2024 RS5 Ordering Options USA vs Rest of World

Why do we in the US get screwed by Audi?
Audi says, yeah sorry no Carbon Brakes available for 2024 it's a supply chain issue.
Then you log onto another countries site and they list Carbon Ceramic brakes as an option.

Not only the brakes, but other countries get the option of carbon fiber bucket seats which are beautiful and us in the US are stuck with whatever the car comes with.

It appears the option choices in foreign countries is much larger than we get here in the US.

Check out their wheel selection, they get 8 choices for different wheels.

Why doesn't Audi let us order the cars how we want?

Bums me out every time I order a new Audi knowing the options I can't get unless I purchases them 2nd hand for the twice the price through Euro parts companies.

One possible reason might be the US specific testing/regulations that is required for the different vehicle/option combinations. A good example of that is matrix headlights - they've been in use in ROW for many years now; US has only recently approved them but imposed their own specific set of rules for testing / regulations.

Why not just use the testing/regulations standards that ROW has had in place and already been using effectively for many years?

But at least the US cars come with the Matrix headlights, all you have to do is activate the functionality via aftermarket coding. Granted sucks you have to pay extra for something the cars are supposed to come with from the factory, but at least you can get them working.

It's not a North American thing. South America, Australia, Japan, and southeast Asia all have the same issues. On the flip side, Europe has the same issues with North American cars. A lot of it has to do with differing regulations plus supply and logistics. It's a lot easier to offer a bunch of unique options when it only takes a few weeks to have a custom ordered car delivered. Not as many people are willing to wait a few months for a custom ordered car so manufacturers cut down on the options available because they want configurations that will appeal to the largest number of people.

Carbon ceramic brakes have a supply chain issue so they've stopped offering them on North American cars as they have a very low uptake and outside of private roads and tracks, there no where legally where you could use the increased speed that is "unlocked" when you order them. Not so in Europe so it makes more sense to continue to offer them there.

Historically, Audi has always short changed the US. Not sure why. BMW and Mercedes do not do this.

BMW does this as well, maybe not to the extent that Audi does, but they certainly hold back options from North America (unless they are built in North America).

Mercedes too. I remember when I bought a W203 C63 there were several options not available here that I wanted that I spoke to the dealer about retrofitting.
