    New RS7 owner with questions

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My new 2024 RS7 will be getting delivered this Saturday so Im pretty pumped to get behind the wheel. I bought the wife a 2024 RS6 back in December and drove it back from Chicago and was really amazed by this platform so I decided to search for one of my own. I wasn't sure whether to go with another RS6 or mix it up and get an RS7. Well I found an RS7 that was on a dealer lot that was optioned almost identical to the wifes RS6 and they quoted it to me at MSRP so I pulled the trigger. Now Im hoping someone has a tune and intake for the 2024's but from what Im reading, it looks like I will have to wait. Give me time to break it in right, lol. First impressions are really good. First, both cars have DRC. I was really concerned at first because I really wanted a smooth ride and I was concerned from what I read that it would be a bit harsh. Harsh has not been my experience. It feels very plush to me in normal and comfort. Definitely much firmer in sport mode, which I wont use much because after all 5000 #'s through the turns is 5000 #'s. Maybe the ride is so comfortable because I daily a 991.2 911 TTS. It is still much better riding than the wifes GT53, which is truly impressive thru the twisties. Audi somehow managed to make this platform feel light when accelerating. Are the published hp #'s sandbagged any?? I cant wait to mod this thing. It really makes me wonder what it could do if it was 4400#, which is still portly.

So, now on to the questions. What is the best mode/setting to have this thing in for launching? There seems to be quite a few conditions that need to be met before launch control can be initiated. If you cool it down too much at the track will launch control not engage? I saw it had to be up to normal operating temps. Is there any way to make sure the 48V system doesnt try to charge while running the 1/4 mi? Braking is not quite up to the task. Can I upgrade to CC from a previous model year by ordering the parts from the factory or do I need to go with aftermarket to get CC? Are there any Florida guys here that hit OSW much? I havent been there since Cadillac track attack years ago.

    Congrats on the car.
As for the CC option, you can get OEM set up or aftermarket.

Pacific German is a sponsor here and I think they can help you out with either option.
There is also a European retailer that sells a complete OEM CC retrofit kit here.

You can identify your ECU and TCU versions with our free diagnostic tool in my signature and it will say whether we support flashing them. Unfortunately being late models, it is unlikely.

Congrats on the new RS7. Just acquired a new to me 2021 late last year (see other thread). Post some pics please of both beasts ;). Interestingly enough my DD up to now was like you (TTS but 992). I have not launched the car either and will read the manual like a good citizen this weekend but hopefully we get forum members to help as well.
IMHO, the car is way too heavy to really be fun on the track (the TTS and the GT3 are the better weapons). I am in SWF so not many twisties but I just drove 1,000 miles from Cleveland and it included mountain highway with medium and long sweepers. I could really feel the weight and it was not confidence inspiring.
We are both jaded because we DD a 911 but I concur with this article https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...es-amg-gt63-s/. Audi engineers focused on the comfort side. The first mod should be to delete all resonators. I went beyond that and have Stage 2 Unitronic tune with catless pipes. It sounds simply amazing. Tame in auto/comfort mode and deep roar in "present" exhaust mode and sports mode.
I sometimes frequent Homestead and Sebring with the 911 but it is becoming simply really costly with the 911 platform. I feel the Audi will be completely out of its environment and I assume you mean the 1/4 mile track. I might make a trip to Bradenton one day.

You should check with Unitronic to see if they have a ECU tune once you have your car and know the ECU number

I was one of the first to get a MY23 RS7 in the US and at the time APR didn't have a tune but Unitronic did

Before you consider weight reduction I believe you'd get more for you money if you add an after market sway bar. When I swapped mine it made a big difference in how responsive the car felt in the corners

Launch mode doesn't matter the same with DRC as it does with air. The car doesn't move up and down so it always sits the same at launch regardless of mode

Just don't launch the thing in comfort with the exhaust closed and you'll be gtg. Car is always going to be faster at a launch in S rather than D

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I will definitley check those options out. Ive only had the car for two days but it doesnt appear that the steel dust as much as I was expecting although the fact that the wheels are black could help conceal it more.

Wow, we could be cut from the same cloth. Im not sure which one I will daily from here on out but I have a feeling its going to be the RS7. At least it will keep the mileage off the other cars. Does deleting the resonators add any more sound with the exhaust flaps closed. I really dont want to compromise the sound just yet but it wont be that bad if the performance is worth it, does it add any hp? I did try launch control and it works really well. Im probably going to head to Orlando Speedway tomorrow to what it does bone stock in the 1/4 mi.Actually I just remember that I have my draggy in the Porsche. I havent used it for about 2 years lol. Oh and here are some pics.

Thanks, I will call some places next week to see when they expect the 2024 tunes to be ready. Take my money already someone!! LOL

Does having the car in RS1 or 2 make it any quicker than ust sport? Maybe Ill have to do some experimenting with draggy.

The resonators do not add sound if you are not under load (under 4K) IMHO. Check this video from a forum member https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PbK1WbXfZE
Your cars look awesome. Is it black on the RS7? I am debating powdercoating mine in gloss black to hide the brake dust as well.

Just stopping in to say congrats - both are gorgeous cars. What a stable! I have been impressed w/my recently acquired RS6 as well as my all-in-one fun car and daily driver. A bit tame, but that can be easily adjusted.

    Enjoy!

Ok after some more seat time I have a few questions. How the living hell do you turn the nannies totally off for steering intervention? I have it on basic and it still tries to yank the steering wheel out of my hand when changing lanes. Its so annoying when I have a can of beer in each hand and the sh!t spills everywhere. Thems just jokes... I only had 1 can open. Also why does the performance exhaust open on my 2024 RS7 when I pull back into sport mode but not on my wifes 2024 RS6? Can I customize everything into RS1/RS2? I tried to read the owners manual but it gave me a headache so I decided Id spend my time making FU money and letting the pros do the advice thing.I did manage a 11.2 @ 123 with a 1.68 60'. Not quite what I was hoping but she is still breaking in. I think a tune and intake will really wake it up.

    The ESC settings

RS1 doesn't let you turn it off automatically however RS2 allows you to set ESC to off

There are also two options for ESC. Default off os if you just push the button or swap to RS2. Which disables traction control and steering/braking assists

if you Hold ESC down for a few seconds it will disable ALL safety features and traction control off completely. No reason to turn it off unless you're both on a track and also driving at vety high level imo. Even on track you can get buy with just having ESC off (standard) since it will still let you slide a decent bit without pulling power from the wheels to try to regain traction

I spit out my beer reading this! Are you talking about the lane assist? If you use your turn signal it won’t happen. Left end of the turn signal stalk press and hold I would assume would turn that off. Agree with tune, intake, and exhaust this really wakes up the car and have been pleased with the results. Enjoy your two awesome rides!

X2 with Ace22 comments. A simple press on the turn signal button will turn off lane assist. You will see in your dash the car with side lanes going off. Annoying as hell but easy to turn off.
