    Can’t subscribe to audi connect

So I bought a 2018 s5 sportback a couple months ago and haven’t been able to activate audi connect services at all. There are no options in the audi marketplace for it, and the old website does nothing when i click the button to subscribe. Also have had multiple phone calls with Kore support and audi of america regarding this and have gotten different answers. I called Kore to try and get a sim card and they told me they couldn’t ship me one because my car is a 2017 model year not an 18, they gave me that in writing and a screenshot of some germany service portal (what he called it on the phone) which shows that it’s a 17. I called audi of america after about it and they said it came up as a 18 but he was going to get back to me and talk to Kore. A couple days later he calls back and tells me that he doesn’t understand why my car was labeled as an 18 because it was a 17 feature wise or something. I went to my audi dealer about it and they said that i had to install audi motion in order to get access to audi connect prime features and they want me to pay 650 for it. On audi’s 3g sunset FAQ it says audi connect prime services are unaffected by the 3g sunset and should continue to function. I’m honestly just looking for some clarification here if i can get audi connect and what year my car actually is? let me know if i can provide anymore details for y’all :)

In all honesty I found Audi Connect to be lacking in so many areas, slow, and overall not something I use even somewhat regularly. I installed the remote start solution from 12vSolutions with the phone app and have more functionality using this, like remote lock/unlock and vehicle locator.

S5blizz -- I considered subscribing to Audi Connect after my free trial expired, and felt it was too expensive for what it provided. I don't have a need to provide internet connectivity to kids (or a spouse) in the car. But your needs/wants may be different. Meanwhile, there should be no confusion about what model year your car is. A couple of things you can do are to check the build date which is located on a sticker attached to the lower portion of the B pillar you can see when the driver's door is open.

Next, send an email to "[email protected]" (Audi of America Customer Experience Center in Auburn Hills, MI), and request they email you a copy of the Monroney Label (window sticker) for your car. Include your VIN number in the request and they'll send you a PDF copy of your car's window sticker, clearly reflecting what model year your vehicle is. Alternatively you can call them at Tel. +1 800 822 2834.

Hope that helps! Keep us posted on how it goes.

So i’ve gotten a window sticker for it and it says 2018 but the build date is back in feb of 2017. Also can definitely understand why you wouldn’t want audi connect, however the wifi would be useful for schoolwork in the morning, and seeing the traffic light thing would be pretty cool as well 😂

Wow, that's pretty unusual to have that number of discrepancies between the sticker, build date and VIN. I assume you've verified that the VIN number on the window sticker, and the VIN number at the base of the windshield do indeed match. I'd still call or email Audi of America and get confirmation from them that your car is indeed a 2018 and shows in their system as a sportback and what they show as the build date. They have the resources to go all the way back to the factories records I suspect. Did you look at the sticker on the B pillar of your car to see what it shows as the build date and whether it matches your sticker?

Also, on the traffic light thing, I never got it to work where I live (in a semi-rural area) but perhaps others in your state can attest to how well it functions in your area. Kids needing wi-fi for doing homework on their way to school in the morning is kinda funny. No kids here so can't relate! But the per month or per year prices for Audi Connect seem a bit steep for what you get (unless perhaps you're a traveling salesman!). A cell phone plan that includes hot spot connectivity could possibly be a better option.

Just went out and checked, and all the vins and build dates are the same, still gonna email Audi and at least get some confirmation on it.

As for the audi connect, I live in a pretty big city so i’d think it would work for the traffic lights, Hotspot would be for my schoolwork in college as i spend a good amount of time just chilling in my car between daily activities, and being able to get some work done would be nice. The hotspot on my phone doesn’t work that well most of the time, which is why I was looking to that solution. Prices are definitely rough, not like it’ll even let me subscribe to it anyways.

    Can’t subscribe to audi connect

There is no more audi connect for that car. Hasn’t been for quite some time

No discrepancy on year. The 2018 A5, S5, A4, S4, Q5, SQ5, all debuted in spring 17, as MY18 in the US. Assuming a U.S. car, you can’t change the sim.

You’re missing absolutely nothing, it was antiquated when it was new.
