Remote Start A6 2024 hit or miss

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just picked up a 2024, A6 a few weeks ago and have been having intermittent issues with the remote start.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

Of course it is failing on the coldest morning with the heaviest frost on the windshield.

Even if I jump in, start it manually for a bit then shut down and try it with the app I still get the message.

    A few details.

    1. I am always close (within 30 feet)
    2. I never shut off the phone/app
    3. Error messages attached.
    Any suggestions?
I purposely bought a 2024 and not a 2023 because of the remote start. Living in New England and parking outside it helps me get going quicker in the early mornings.

I just picked up mine and I was told the parking brake must be pulled up for the remote start to work.
While I am guessing you are doing this it does appear to possibly be more of a network issue.

Good to know about the parking brake. It was applied in this case, but again good to know I had not heard that before.

    Thanks for the info

I’ve had success using it past couple months in my 24’ S4, whenever I get an error I attempt to activate a different input (ex. If pressing “Remote Start” under “Features” errors, I then open “All functions” and press “Remote Start” from this tab, or the third option pulling up from the bottom of the screen on the main overview page). I 2nd the parking brake…I religiously park with it…lastly ensure you’re parking in somewhat clear visibility.

I’m in southeast Michigan and it has been a pleasure to experience an Audi with remote start.

…if you ever see LTE / network signal disappear in the top right corner of your MMI or your SOS light turns from Green to red, or off…you’ll have to get to the dealer for a network module reset.

Good to know about trying the different methods. I do always use the E-brake, even on flat surfaces. I guess this is an old habit from driving standard.
I will keep an eye out for that LTE Network signal.

    Thanks for the info

    Collyn,

I wanted to follow up and let you know I have now been doing it the way you said and it has been working every time. (hopefully not going to jink myself)

Screenshots attached for when others have the same issue.

    Go into "All Functions"
Then when in the "All Functions" screen select remote start from the list.
You then hit start, and confirm vehicle is parked safely, then enter your PIN.Remote Start Working.jpgRemote Start.jpgAll Functions.jpg

    Hi Matt,

    That’s awesome, happy to hear!

It’s the first time the Volkswagen group has really touched remote start, it’s illegal in a lot of European areas due to idle laws.

Volkswagen group essentially uses the same features through myAudi with myVW/myPorsche, with it being across the group I’m sure a bit of time will lead to better vehicle integration and improvements!

    Cheers!

I seem to have to use the key fob and hit the lock button twice for the remote start to work on my 24 RS7. If I don't do this, it shows a message about a time stamp that has expired on the app. Then when I go to unlock it to get in it shuts off. Not sure if that's normal or not with this system but it's annoying none the less.

Thanks for the input. Mine seems to have a mind of it's own on when it wants to work. I'll try to hit the lock button twice to see if that works. Mine also stops when you open the car door. Our RR starts remotely pretty much every time and keeps running when you open the door.

    Cheers.

Good to know about the key FOB since yesterday and today the remote start app wasn't working and i was getting the time stamp message again.

I am trying to be patient with this... but between the frost and the snow lately this is pretty annoying.

I had tried to unlock and lock the car with the app thinking maybe that would sync the time. It locked and unlocked, but the remote start still didn't work.

Mine also shuts off when you open the door. I don't like this, and hopefully there is a work around that someone comes up with in the coding.

OK- I was playing around with the remote start today. Annoying that it was single digits and couldn't get it to work. I tried re-pairing, restarting my phone and nothing. I ended up placing the remote right next to the phone and it suddenly worked. Not sure if this was just a fluke or not?

Interesting point about the remote, generally my remote is 25-35 feet away from me and my phone when attempting to start the car.

I (maybe ignorantly) wouldn't think the key has anything to do with it since the app is connecting to the car. Again, what do I know about German engineering and cell phones, but it seems unnecessary to have the phone require the key.

OR... Is there a way to use the key to remote start it? I would prefer to use the key, as I am always within key range.

Just talked to Audi support and said they are working on an update but have a current outage for this. They did say that if you have an iPhone if you turn off face ID it seems to work better for people. I can confirm that I was able to get it to work from my iPhone once I turned face ID off and just used the pin.

Hopefully, this helps others till Audi gets a fix implemented.
