Hey guys. My PPF work is wrapping up so it’s tint day! He only uses XPEL Ceramic so the choices are 20 vs 35. Does anyone love or hate the % they went with? Any issues? In my BMW the dealer tint mess up how the car measured light and would always dim the dash. Looks wise I tend to like darker but not drug dealer dark :)

20% I think it illegal where we live.
    Personally I always go 35-40%.

Ok, come on, now. Live away, brother. It isn’t like the “rest” of our cars aren’t riding around with a ton of “illegal” crap installed on them to begin with. It’s 2023, might want to go 5%, your ass could get killed at a stop light or your dreams could come true at magic city! #PeopleGettingRandomlyShotFromCarToCarLikeNothingN owadays

I've gone 30% and happy with the results (different than xpel), especially night driving. Technically, 35% combined with the manufacturerer's stock tint, would make it illegal in most states.
So, go for what you like will look nice either way....I just prefer to see better at night since I do a fair amount of it.

    RS5 / RS7 / RS6 = all done with 20% on all windows minus the windshield.
Only issue when raining and its pitch black, can be hard to see out.

if the police pull you over, drop all your windows :) they are pulling you over for another reason so make it easier for them to see in

just stay away from Quebec with front done though especially if you have a front plate installed.

Historically I've stuck with 35% on my cars but I wanted the end result to be the same as the privacy glass percentage which comes in at 17%, so decided to do 20% all around. Happy with my choice. Yes, dark at night so need to rely on back up camera more than usual. Have had no issues with police, but yes QC could be problematic regardless of percentage.

Here is a shot with something light in the background to get a sense of the darkness.

This is only true for the front windows in Ontario.

    Correct.
    The OP is in Ontario.

My dealer told me that incoming 2024s have no tint. I requested the privacy glass but was too late, my order had locked.

All years of the C8 RS6 have come without privacy glass. It’s due to how it got federalized with DOT. Similar to why the RS6 doesn’t drop 10mm when you switch to Dynamic unlike in the ROW and RS7 (does when at highway speed).

I did 15% all around on mine. You can't see into it, but it's not too dark from the inside.

I also did 45% on the windshield. I was worried about that being too much, but it's fine, even at night and/or rain.

Yes, it's illegal, but I've been running 15% for years in Colorado and never had a problem

I chickened out and went 35%. I’m not running with front plates, so I don’t need any other reasons to be pulled over… I tend to drive slightly fast as well :)

The color of your interior can make a difference too. I usually go with 35% with dark/black interiors, but I got the cognac interior, which makes the interior a bit lighter, so I went with 20% this time and couldn’t be happier. It’s dark, but I don’t find it to be a huge difference from 35% and the lighter seats don’t stand out as much through the windows.

I've been rolling without front plate and 20% tint for the last 15 years in the Toronto area.

35% all around on mine, and no regrets at all. I love it! Subtle, but gets the job done, and I prefer it to light fronts and dark on the rest.

70% on windshield - enough to cut the light a bit and UV protection
