    Remote Start for our B9’s

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ive installed remote starts in the Boston area for several Audizine members so figured id update things

For the last few years I have even an authorized installer for Evo remote start systems. Currently have them installed in all of our Audi vehicles, 09 B8 A4 Avant , 14 B8.5 RS5 , 23 B9.5 SQ5 and can honestly say , we have not had one single issue. From using the oem key fob to using the newly released GSM app , I can honestly say that the connivence has been incredible. Especially with the unpredictable New England Weather.

For Most of the newer vehicles 2018 - , the system is plug and play ( with some additional coding on the remote start module done by installer ) easily removable for anyone worried about their Audi Factory Warranty

With the newer cars a key is required to stay in the vehicle for remote start. If paired with the GSM phone app , you wont even miss the key !
You phone will replace the key meaning you can drive your vehicle with just your phone alone !

Remote start also gives you the ability to lock the vehicle while running

My Personal Experience - All my vehicles have been to the dealer with this system installed and has never been noticed and does not give any codes when the vehicle is looked over by Audi

The app works flawlessly and has loads of features !

    ENGINE STARTING AND STOPPING CONTROL

    CHECKING THE START-UP CYCLE DURATION

    KEYLESS ENTRY AND DOOR LOCKING

CONTROL OF CONVENIENCE AND COMFORT FEATURES

    MULTI-USER SHARING

    BATTERY STATUS DISPLAY

    ALARM AND SECURITY SYSTEM

    NOTIFICATIONS AND ALERT SYSTEM

    MULTI-VEHICLE MANAGEMENT

    GPS LOCATION AND EVENT HISTORY

    INDOOR TEMPERATURE DISPLAY

    CONTROL OF AVAILABLE CUSTOMIZABLE FEATURES

For anyone interested in a remote start system feel free to shoot me a msg or a txt
Id be happy to answer any questions or just demo the system for you !

Install for these kits usually take less then an hour

Can come to you if the location & weather permits
    Image1702997139.383454.jpg
Or we can schedule a time for you to come to the shop !

Have you done any MY24 Q5's yet? Just wondering if there's any coding issues due to the new security.

My 2024 does it through the app but the damn thing cuts off when you unlock the door kind of annoying..

No Euro cars get it not even the 24's.

Apparanrelt you can code the car to keep running even with the doors locked although I've not seen anyone do it on a MY24 as we have the extra security on the modules :

Module 46 Control Module "Comfort System"
    Coding
    Find "central_locking_system_lock_unlock_at_engine_ runn ing"
Value is set to "Not Active" by default
    Change Value to "Active"
    Apply

$500 a year to start the car from the phone is crazy ! I prefer the aftermarket since it has bluetooth -wifi and gsm connectivity! The audi app itself tends to give users a lot of issues and i can say from experience , it doesn’t always respond quickly

Where the Evo’s response is immediate and bluetooth & wifi range is great alone

I recently installed the 12 volt systems unit with the cellular app add on and it works flawlessly and was a snap to install myself. They run sales quite often and shipping was impressively fast.

Ive seen those units, but havent had personal expérience with them ,seem to have similar setups average cost of the 12 volt > fortin unit

    Curious

Is there user customization via the app?

Does that setup have bluetooth and wifi connectivity?

Sorry - just saw this - I must not have notifications turn on or something! There is no bluetooth, but I'm not sure what you would use that for? Maybe I don't understand what you mean. You can set up individual cars in there (right down to a pic with your spec paint code) and lock/unlock doors - see battery voltage - status of lock/unlock doors - car locate with google maps - current outside temp at cars location - and remote start countdown timer.

You can see a small demo here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hd_beQoo6cc

Mine works flawlessly and even has voice assistant integration (if you choose to set it up) so in the morning I put it in my routine so it opens my garage door and starts my car for me with one command. So far I love it, works great.

The fortin unit seems to be a cleaner app experience and faster reacting than the 12v unit. 12v unit seems to be not as nice looking and slower to update in app. Do they both require professional install or can it be DIY?

The 2023 or 2024 are not coming with remote start from factory. Wondering if there is a way to do a factory retrofit. Wouldn't be surprised if all the required parts also exist in older models.

To what I have seen the key challenge might be that Audi is scanning VIN and if car is older they down show the remote start option in the my Audi app.

Super easy access all from trunk on left. Download app first and have the codes from modules ready to enter into app. Friend or Mrs to step on brake and start car while you check lights on module. Highly recommend phone app. Don't waste money on the extra range remotes. Three taps on factory remote or start from phone. Can also use the gps to keep tabs on the wife or kids if the borrow your ride ;)

Agree with all of this. Would have been a 1 hour install by yourself if not for the hitting the brakes for a sec. GF took car of that super easy. 1/2 the time is digging into the wires - which is not hard at all - just a little time consuming. Easy Peasy plug and play. If the wires were already pulled out - it would be a 10 min install.

And agree on the cell app. I just did the OEM fob option and regretted it and added the mobile cell app later - which was also super easy. Just do it from the start. F the long range - go straight to app. You won't be sorry.

Awesome, thanks for the input guys. I did think about just going OEM fob, and adding the app later, but seems like it's worth it from the start

That is what I did. The 3rd click can be tricky if you are not real close. First 2 worked 90% of the time, but the 3rd was more like 70%. I gave up and ordered the app and have never regretted it. It is super easy to add on later if you wanna try the key first, but I bet you do it later anyway. Plus starting your car from the runway when your plane lands so it's toasty when you get in it in the parking garage is pretty damn nice....... =)

Just posting my experience with installing Fortin Evo... In short, should have spent the extra cash on the 12volt system.

    21' SQ5 - Evo-One-LTE with Thar-AUD2 Harness
    - Evo-One Kit
    - Thar-AUD2 Harness
    - EVo-Start LTE Kit
    - Flash Manager4 Module

    Goods:
    - The T Harness was easy to use and made setting up easy (same as 12V system)
    - All in, was about $450 through ebay. Had to use 2 different vendors to get the best price.
    - 1 year subscription was free (interesting though that when I installed similar set-up on the 19' S5, it gave a 2 year subscription free)
    - Not including the flashing of the module, install was about 1 hr.

    Not so good:
    - Does not come with a 'key box' and only has the sensor you need to tape to the key. I ended up making a box using a watch box and magic eraser for the interior foam
    - Missed that you have to buy the 'flash module' to set-up the kit. Delayed my install and added $70 to the price
    - Only other features supported are heated seats and Rear Defrost set-up for Aux1 on the app. I really wanted the windows up and down feature, but you cant get the supported features until you buy the kit. (atleast that is what I could find).
    - The app is glitchy... When a door is open, the app shows all doors open (sometimes). Sometimes it shows doors unlocked, but they are really locked... and vice-versa. Sometimes I get a notification that someone is breaking into the car. It is random though and dont know what triggers it.
    - Added the FSS (Fortin Shock Sensor), but does nothing... i jumped on the hitch to trigger it, but still does not send notification to app.
    - I would not go the Evo option if you are faint at heart with splicing wires. You have to do some splicing to install the LTE remote. (ie: ignition set-up)
    - Instructions are not intuitively obvious... you have to know your way around wiring.

all in, I am not entirely unhappy with the set-up, just recommend going the 12volt option for $789 if you have the extra cash.
