    Torque spec for b9 rs5 steering wheel bolt?

    Have a carbon steering wheel on the way and was wondering what the torque spec is for the b9 rs5 steering wheel center bolt?

    Does the bolt also need to be changed(one time use)? If so does anyone have the part# for that bolt?

    Tried looking but couldn't find any specs and the youtube vids just seem to wing it.

    Any info is appreciated. thanks!

    30NM torque for the bolt and it should be replaced every time you remove it. Part number is N90799102.

    ...or use some Loctite 243 if you don't change screw.

    Thanks! I will order the bolt and not take chances for such a cheap price. I did see somewhere that it should be torqued to 50Nm?

    Good idea! I just checked the service manual and it 30nm + 90 degrees turn. I think some are translating that to 50nm.

    Thanks for the verification in the manual, I appreciate it. If it is a stretch bolt like than then I definitely will NOT be reusing it.

    Yeah, best to play it on the safe side. I bought 6 of those bolts as I've changed out my steering wheel and paddles a few times, just good to have them on hand.

    MY08 coupe/sedan/avant started out at 50 Nm, then the release of the MY10 cabriolet/sportback introduced 30 Nm + 90°. By the 2016 workshop manual edition, the only spec was the 30 Nm + 90°. The bolts have always been replace if removed. You should always clean the threads of old threadlocker. Was there a bolt change at some point, like they did with the Gen2 2.0T crank bolt, which required a different torque spec? No idea. The current bolt p/n has been there a long time now.

    But for the B9 workshop manual, we see:
    ❑ Steering Wheel Reutilization: 50 Nm
    ❑ Steering Wheel New: 30 Nm +90°
    ❑ Replace after removing.

    So seems it matters if the wheel is new or being reused? Audi, making sure you never get that feeling that you know all you need to know.

    Interesting, the steering workshop manual that I have doesn't denote anything about a different torque spec for reutilization of the steering wheel, just states it's necessary to replace the bolt when removing and it's 30nm + 90°, leave it up to Audi to not make up their mind :)

    The type 8W (B9 A4/A5) manual I have for suspension/wheels/steering is the Dec 2019 edition.
