First oil change since I purchased the Q7. Concerned with filter

Car has 58,000 miles. 3.0. Bought from Carmax.

I did the oil change this past weekend using kit from FCP Euro. Pulled the oil filter out and it looks worse than I would expect. Should I be concerned? Was it not changed last oil change or is this how they normally look after 8k miles?

Not sure what you're looking for? It's really not uncommon that the longer you run, the darker the oil and filter get. So, it looks about right for 8,000 miles. That's really not how you read or look at an oil filter anyway. I would be more concerned about how much trash or debris is between the pleetes. But at 58,000 miles, I would assume there was not much trash in it.
But it was from carmax you never know.

Thank you for replying. My last vehicle had 200k miles on it and the filter never looked this bad. Even after 10k miles with multiple off road trips. Ill try the Liquid Molly engine flush that was recommended to me from posting on Facebook before my next oil change.

I would start using a 5k oil change interval and maybe send a sample of used oil to Blackstone Labs to get an UOA (Used Oil Analysis). Maybe that will shed some light on the condition of your engine.

I agree, I do all my stuff at 5,000 except for my diesel, i go 7,500 which is still almost 5,000 less than the 12,000 blackstone reccomend I could try. The Liquid Moly engine flush is good stuff. Make sure you read the directions and only idle the engine with the flush installed. Do not drive it or rev it!!
Remember, I can bet the previous owner only did the recommended 10,000 mile service at best. And if they didn't go to Audi prob just ran thru whatever quick lube and used bulk synthetic oil.

Flush it and do your service with FPC kit, so im sure you got one of the Liquid Moly oils. Then, plan on doing every 5,000 ish from now on. All should be good.

I see no issue...just normal color of oil that's been in the engine for at least a few thousand miles. Engine oil will turn pretty dark within the first 1000 miles after a change.......

Check if you have shiny metal particles within the pleats, that is a concern.
