Best Tire Pressure for Michelin 4S Tires?- 2023 RS6 w/ OEM 22in Performance Wheels.

I live in San Diego, so it doesn't get really cold here, and cold pressures in the morning are around 45-47 PSI.

Tire pressures were set to 49 PSI on install, per the owners manual, but the tires seem mega noisy and riding rough, and after driving for a bit, pressures are in the low 50s.

Who runs run lower PSI on the Michelins vs. the Hankooks? I have seen other members saying 42 PSI on all 4 corners?

    Thoughts?

Wow I feel bad, I run stock 22" tires at 35 psi all year long.

For normal everyday driving, recommend 40/38 if you tend to have load more than three in the car.

I split the difference and run 42/39 year round. The streets here are horrible so I feel I get a little more impact protection this way.

Things I've learned recently playing around with air pressures and tire sizes:

tire width and aspect ratio matter just as much as wheel size when calculating load index and optimal PSI

Tire pressure math is voodoo and only road testing really matters

Track, drag strip, and road PSI are all different

Temperature and road conditions screw up any prior math you thought you had.

The kind of road you plan to drive on should really influence your PSI. Launching on a worn down grooved street vs a brand new smooth ashpalt road will feel and respond totally different. No use having low psi to get max contact patch if that contact patch is just going to cause you to spend half your acceleration fighting getting drug left and right instead of going forward because your wheels want to stick to the pavement and follow the wear lines

Currently I run a 315/30ZR22 sport 4s on well traveled roads. Load indexes tell me I should be between 30-35 PSI MAX at cold temps, but running that low gives me poor launches due to the roads not being smooth and the tires feel mushy in turns at speed

Right now I'm running 38psi in front and 32 psi in the rear. It helps reduce some of the natural understeer of the car, gives me enough air in the front to overcome some of the grooved roads and steer the car instead of it trying to steer me, and enough grip in the back to grab the road on launch. Still testing different PSIs but so far I'm liking this one

I ride mines with 38 front and 41 psi rears. Getting even wear on the 4S and I dont even rotate my tires. No issues far. Tires are smooth at all speed and no harsh ride but since they are now 3 years old they are getting slightly harder but I ride on the 21s with winter sets and will replace the 22 inch Pilot 4S next summer.

Does anyone have any feedback on the new Continental Sportcontact 7s vs the Michelin 4S's? Thinking about buying a set as a backup (since they come on the 24s as the OEM tire anyways).

Any word on pressure difference, noise, ride quality?

Due to availability, I went from the Contact 7 to 4S's on my 24 performance. The 4S's are fine but slightly noisier than the 7's. I'll probably go back to the 7's when I wear out the 4S's. The 4S's look a little more stretched than the 7's as well. I ran 37/39 PSI on both sets. The biggest difference really is the noise.

Appreciate the reply. Definitely noticed more noise, even from the Hankook's to the Michelin's.
