    B5 S4 700+WHP Single Turbo Build Thread

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
As the car season comes to an end here in Minnesota, I thought I would create a build thread where I can post the journey of achieving high horsepower in my B5 S4. I put it on a dyno jet towards the end of the summer where it made 725 WHP and 667 WTQ. I will post the complete build specs and how everything came to be and the obstacles I encountered along the way.

Currently the car's engine bay/setup appearance wise is not 100% complete. I have some adjustments to do to the intercooler piping and some odds and ends to make the bay look cleaner and to my liking. My goal for the car season was to have the tune finalized and have the car performing well before going into the aesthetic side of things. Now that I have accomplished that, its time to make improvements over the winter and have it ready for the next season. Below I have attached two pictures of the set up. One isn't orientated the right way because I'm still figuring out how to work everything on here.

    Build List:

    Engine:

    -Bottom end:
    BEL BF Block
    Mahle Motorsport 81.5MM Pistons
IE Rifle Drilled Connecting Rods w/ ARP Rod Bolts
VAST Girdle w/ ARP Main Stud Kit
New OEM S4 Oil Pump, Chain, and Tensioner
Calico Coated Rod Bearings (Rifle Drilled)
    Calico Coated Main Bearings
Every gasket/o-ring/seal was replaced with brand new OEM ones as they should be.

    -Cylinder Head:
    ATQ 2.8 Cylinder Heads
    ARP Head Studs
    Reconditioned OEM Intake Valves
Supertech Inconel Single Groove Exhaust Valves
    Supertech Valvetrain Kit
IE Performance Valve Guides (Intake & Exhaust)
IE Performance Valve Stem Seals (Intake & Exhaust)
OEM Cam Chain Tensioners Reconditioned w/ New Pads and Chains
    OEM Head Gaskets
    034 Motorsports SAI Delete Plates

    -Forced Induction:
BW S369 SXE (T4 Twin Scroll)
    Twin Tail 38 MM Wastegates
3.5" Downpipe to 4" SS Exhaust w/ Vibrant Resonator
485 Designs Twin Scroll Hot Side Turbo Kit
    2.8 Exhuast Manifolds Cerakoted
    Tial Q BOV
    Treadstone 4.5" Intercooler TR1245
Turbo to Intercooler 2.5" Aluminum Piping
Intercooler to Throttle Body 3" Piping

    -Fuel System:
Dual Walbro 450 (274) Fuel Pumps (Second pump activated via Hobbs Switch set at 15psi)
Independent Relays for each pump running 10ga wire
    8AN PTFE Feed Line
    6AN PTFE Return Line
    Radium 6micron In-Line Fuel Filter
Radium Multiport Fuel Pressure Regulator w/ Pressure Gauge
    034 Motorsports Billet Fuel Rails
    Injector Dynamics IDX 1300 Injectors

I will upload the rest of the supporting components and modifications but just wanted to get this up and share the main ones that most people care about. I will also get a list together of all the other modifications done to it since I've replaced just about everything on it. I hope to be able to help others that may want to endure the journey of higher horsepower in the Audi 2.7T world or that just want insight into what its like to do so.

Thank you! I did everything myself besides the 485 Designs turbo kit and the machine work. But engine assembly and everything else was me :) It was my first high hp build I’ve done and couldn’t be happier with the results!

She sure is! I have only tried one 60-130 run and did it in 6.41s, that was in warmer humid weather, full weight with extra stuff in trunk, shifting slowly and no RAL. I’m confident it’ll crack into 5s but I’ll have to wait for next year to try again. Not trying to break any records but just trying to see how far I can get with this set up :)

Fastest FATS time I saw was 2.16 but averaging 2.22-2.28. Seeing about 23psi at 4500rpm and full boost at 5000rpm! Laggy but I love that top end :) revs out to 7800rpm but I rarely have to go that high haha
