Im looking to replace my S7 battery and possible the wifes A7 battery and looking for people experience with battery brands. I am looking at an Odyssey Performance Battery https://www.autozone.com/batteries-s...chText=battery. So if anyone has some good input on a nice heavy duty battery let me know.

    Thanks

For my A7 I replaced the battery with what ever O’Reileys sells. Works fine, didn’t even deal with recoding for a new battery

I have the odyssey H8 battery in my S6. If you are planning to get the odyssey. Get it from FCP euro. It is cheaper than autozone and you get a lifetime replacement warranty.

Diehard batteries from advanced auto are good. They are made in Germany and have a hidden BEM code on them for coding German cars.

If you have an extra 1k+ to spend, get the Antigravity lithium battery AGH880RS, group 49 H8, 80Ah, 2000cca 25.5lb

    Now that’s a performance upgrade.

Does the Odyssey Performance 49-950 just plug and play ... or is coding needed ...?

Got my H9 battery (000-915-105-DL) from the dealer for $208. Shop around your local dealers, if not get an equivalent matching battery from AutoZone/PepBoys/etc.

There are three manufacturers that produce most of the various brands sold in the US, so brand is not too important a consideration. Most folk recommend getting H9 size as Audisthesia suggests, AGM type, and making sure the battery was recently manufactured and has not been sitting on a shelf for too long. There are a number of AZ threads that discuss "coding" a new battery with or without a BEM number.

Anyone looking for an H9 105 Ah battery for their C7 Audi, Walmart sells this EverStart (made in Germany by Clarios), for $180 as of April of 2025, with a 4 year warranty. Installed and coded in about one hour, thanks to the plethora of info about batteries available on this forum. Can't beat the price. Stealership wanted about $400 just for the battery!

This, I use walmart batteries now, they work great. I used autozone batteries for the longest, but my Duramax kept killing them. I figured if I was just going to kill them, may as well get the cheap ones with better warranty from walmart. I had those batteries for 5 years until I traded it on the A7.

I concur. We all know Walmart doesn't make batteries. I used EverStart for my mother's Kia and the house's sump pump battery back-up. Both working great.

I always buy the top of the line ones, is the caveat to mine. But those are still cheaper than the mid-grade parts store ones. I buy all of my fluids there that I can too. They have the cheapest oil, filters, coolant, brake cleaner... etc. I've ran nothing but supertech synthetic in my wife's CX-9 changed every 7k miles since new, and at 100k it had a great blackstone report.
