B9 Roof Rack End Cap Replacement

After spending hours looking for a solution I couldn't find the answer to my question so I decided to see if I could find the answer to help others who might be in the same situation.

After driving to work and while circling to look for parking, I herd a loud smack and had the feeling something fell off the car. Getting out to inspect what was going on I noticed that there was an endcap missing which was torn off the plastic tassel which was still attached to the inside of the rack

I looked to see if there was a replacement part number but realized there wasn't one that specifically matched the B9 platform (beginning with 80A). However, I did see that there was one for the B8 platform (beginning with 8R) but there were no sources that stated that it would fit. After looking at dozens of pictures of roof racks and the end caps it looked like it would work so I placed an order with my local dealership and they came in a few days later.





Unscrewed the hex bolt inside and replaced the end cap and everything seemed to fit correctly. One thing I did notice was a slightly different texture of the end caps with the original ones being smoother than the ones on the replacement. Hopefully this helps anyone else that has been in the same situation.

Nice, glad you found one!

I don’t get why folks leave their OE roof bars installed. The car thinks there is a load on the roof and adjusts a bunch of systems to compensate for it, including stability control. Errant end caps are just another reason.
