Coilovers set in... on top of the tires! and recs for my area? let's spend more $$

I recently wanted to do some final touches and garage the car, so I got new wheels/tires/coilovers. The shop told me the setup was super tight, so I asked them to do little or no drop. They readjusted, and I have driven the car 300 miles in the first week and maybe 10 miles a week the past few weeks.... until today. Took it out and felt something rumbling, it's pretty obvious the coilovers have settled in on the wheels, and frankly that's a scary thing to experience, it's shaking or stuttering very hard on the front left and anytime I turn on the front left and right, and probably the back too that I don't notice due to the noise and feedback from the front left. Braking causes it to slightly reduce. Even the drive began fine and quickly deteriorated.

I imagine I will take it in, they will hopefully say it's as high as possible (because i paid the shop to readjust as high as possible), and I am left with the decision to replace the coilovers...which i assume is the cheapest option versus smaller wheels, but i am once again out of my depth... and if anyone has a shop recommendation in the DMV area for this work let me know!

    My setup is:
    Neuspeed RSe102 19x9 +40
    Michelin PS 4S 255/35
    SilversSilvers NEOMAX Coilovers
    2015 Moonlight Blue 6MT PP+ -034 stage2+ & constantly modded

Not sure why your suspension lowered itself after installation. Looking at your C/O man. website you need to provide the model of shock and springs you installed, because they build crazy camber setups.

Sounds like you did a 5 inch drop. Or 4.

You can probably just use different springs, same manufacturer. Anyway, good luck.

I just got the "default" spring rates for them which are Front 10K Rear 7K-S

I didn't even think of different springs, but like you this doesn't make any sense to me how it could have dropped so much more to be so intrusive

The tires are definitely not the issue, I run the same tires and have always run the Michelins.

The offset on your wheels could be a factor.

What height are you running with the coilovers from the ground to the lip of the fender?

Are you sure the coil overs you got aren't for an A4/A5 or an S3? The S4/S5 is much heavier in the front then other Audis are. I would check the part numbers to double check.
I've personally never heard of Silverssilver Neomax coilovers.... why did you end up using those? Did you see another persons car with them?

Lastly, most coilovers have tons of adjustment for height, cant you just raise the car up with the coilover?

I will check the part numbers but ordered everything at the same time to the installer, so a number of people would have had to missed noticing the incorrect type if that were the case, which I am not ruling out.

My original request was 26 around and they did 25.5" in the front and 26" in the back. They said there was slight rubbing, so I paid another $75 to have them readjust and raise everything another 1/4in, which they said was the max and that "If we raised the front any more, once the coilovers settle with time you would have a lot of reverse rake and it wouldn't look that well."

I purchased these due to positive reviews in this forum and I have the car parked at a family member's house so have to wait to match up part #s.

Something is wrong if the coilover is all the way out and you are still that low.

Most good coilover kits have the ability to go almost as high up as the stock ride height.

My car has springs and shocks in it, and it doesnt rub at all. I think I am lower then 25 inches. I'll doublecheck and post back.

I’m not too familiar with this brand of coilovers but it’s not uncommon for new coilovers to settle down a bit after install.

Questions for you after looking at their website:

    - Did you get the B8 A4 or S4 set of coilovers?
    - Did you option the “super low kit”?
    - Did you option the swift springs? I’d don’t think so but it’s a separate option from default or custom.
    - Did you option the “rear extenders”? (Not sure what these are)

As far as your wheels and tires, I can compare to my car that’s on PSS10s and my wheels that are 19x9 et29 in the summer and 19x9 et33 in the winter, both with Michelin 255/35-19 tires. IIRC, my FTG is a few 16ths over 26” in the rear and a couple of 16ths under 26” in the front. I’ll rub only on big dips at high speeds - such as on the highway and there’s a big roller dip or something but it’s just some tire rub on deep compression and I’ve never had an issue with rubbing in the front when turning or by sitting on the tires. My winter wheels don’t rub and your wheels offset is +40, so your wheels should sit closer to the uprights and have less of a chance of rubbing.

I’m curious where your front struts sit in the fork if they’re this low and can’t be raised anymore, but otherwise it certainly sounds like something is off if the car is literally sitting on the tires in the wheel wells.

lol I am absent minded but not dumb enough to order for the wrong vehicle and confirmed as much today, now what was shipped to the installer might have been an error and I cannot confirm that yet without looking myself, but again I would really really hope the shop I have used for the last 5 years is professional enough to inspect to confirm prior to install.

Now that I’ve given it some thought, the last time I was driving I did hit a pothole on a road being repaved (so it was extra exposed) and it sounded terrible.. could I have knocked something loose that causes this? Either way all these questions will be answered when I get it towed and inspected but I really don’t think it has anything to do with what I ordered. No of course I didn’t get super low I didn’t want that much of a drop in the first place, and I will check for the other two options but don’t think so.

I asked about the A4 or S4 only because the coils would technically fit but could have different spring rates for the minor increase in weight with the S4, but also because I noticed the Silvers’ site had the years listed as 09-16 for the A4 set while the S4 set oddly was labeled as 09-15 - probably nothing more than an error, but if your installer got either set, they’d technically fit the same on the actual car. I wasn’t suggesting you weren’t paying attention or whatever when you ordered.

It’s definitely possible that a large pot hole could cause damage or movement in freshly installed parts. On that note, another question to ask your installer is if they torqued the required suspension bolts under load and not in the air.

First off, why would you buy that brand?
Second, I'm gonna bet it's improper install and if that's the case I'd get my money back on that return trip.
The same throttle body and corn toon as everyone else.
A ported blower and the mega bitch pulley.
Lots of water and wheels lighter than my bank account.

There’s a chance that you bent a control arm in the pothole and its causing the rubbing.

Take pictures of the setup. Low enough to rub is pretty low and wide
