At least 2 mirror cap screws

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hoping someone parting out a B9 sees this. I need at least 2 of the Allen screws that hold the side mirror caps onto the mirror assembly. Before you reply “call the dealer”, just know it’s not quite that easy.

What do they look like, and do you have a caliper you can measure the depth/thread with? I'm sure you could find a solid replacement online somewhere that sells basic hardware.

I appreciate the suggestion but my OEM hardware OCD will not permit this.

I have a bunch from the B8/8.5 platforms - both coarse and fine threaded, M3, T10, ~10mm long. Ignore the long ones in the back that are for the mirror adjustment itself.

I just remembered that I have one of these screws taped to the back of my OEM silver mirror caps. I'll post a pic when I find time to dig it up. This recollection does not change the fact that I need to source 2+ (non-OEM caps don't have all the correct screw mounting points).

I ended up ordering a full mirror hardware kit from Prestige in Denver (great stealership all things considered!). Fingers crossed it includes the correct parts since I've heard from a trusted source that it's a roll of the dice. Happy to part with any extra parts from the kit for the price of shipping.

Ok, but what was the actual p/n of whatever it is you ordered, for others in the future? Was it the sundry parts set 4M0 898 011, or something else?

It's unclear the specific bolts you're expecting. Looks like there's 5x M4x10 bolts that hold the trim to the front of the mirror unit, after removing the glass. Behind that, then there's two M3x11 bolts near each other and one M3x12 bolt closer to the vehicle body side that hold the mirror cap to the mirror unit. They're just generic bolts. Torque spec seems to be 1.5 Nm all around.

There wasn’t a pn for individual bolt, just the kit. Yes, these are the 4x that hold the cap onto the side mirror assembly (behind the mirror glass). I’ll update with pn for kit once it is in-hand and verified correct. I’ll post a pic of an individual bolt today or tomorrow but most likely tomorrow

The B9 hardware looks different from the 8/8.5 stuff posted above. The top is pan head and the bottom has no tapering. Also, star bit rather than allen. Sorry the pics aren't better, I'm not a photographer. I don't currently own a caliper (sold all my tools last move since I said I was retiring from working on cars, lolololololol) but length is roughly .5". My OEM hardware is ready for pickup at the dealer so more info to follow!

I picked up a set of OEM hardware from the dealer a few days ago (special order). I'll post pics (sweet jesus posting pics on this site is a chore - no proper web developer maintains this place?) and part number later but looks correct. One gotchya is (of course) one kit only covers one side, even tho parts counter guy said one kit covers both. Dude gave me a fairly deep discount which came to $47.30 out the door for one kit when list is I think like $90.

MSRP is $44 you didn't get a discount lmao. My dealer charges $28. And they're only $8 if you order them straight from europe.

Also posting pics really isn't that hard, its a bb forum. Its the same across all of them and this is how its been for decades. you type [IMG][/IMG] and you put the link in 🤦
