2018 Q5 Front license plate bracket alternative

Has anyone used plastic tie downs to install a front license plate? I don’t want to drill holes into my bumper and I thought a silicon license plate holder with a full backing could work to prevent scratches, like this one. I have a 2018 q5 s-line. Responses or any other ideas much appreciated.

there's no hole drilling in the front bumper, there's already holes behind the plastic covers that pop off.

On the B9? I’m pretty sure there are no covers for the tow hook location and you have to drill through the bumper.

They added the plastic covers on the B9.5.

pretty sure this guy's just talking about the regular license plate mounting location. My b9 has the plastic covers there, in the center of the grille

    I've used these on my past few cars (Audis and BMW);

    https://stonsho.com/collections/audi

I drive the majority of the time with the front license plate off, and I just pop it on when I'm parking on the street/public area. The double-sided tape should be strong enough by itself to hold the bracket to the bumper (so you don't necessarily have to drill into it).

Front plate = asshole every time

Avoid this at all costs. If you live in place that enforces this move out of your totalitarian state

Haha you do make a good point. Moving is not an option for me though. Sorry I didn’t mean bumper, where i think it would screw into is the solid part of the front grill below the sensor cameras. I have looked for plastic covers but there is nothing there nor could I find a tow hole location. I looked for little indents where the screws would go but didn’t see those either. If anyone can enlighten me as to the location of any of these I am all ears. My car is a 2018 which I think is b9.

thanks Gunnarrrrr. You're right that's the OEM part i need. on a couple of the oem parts websites it says this part won't fit an s-line, which mine happens to be (and yours is obviously as well). Wanna have a laugh - that part on the Canadian OEM website is $450 and on the US OEM website is $108!

you’re right, the s line version for our cars is 80A807285A, the difference being the A at the end and it’s even more expensive. over $300 on all the dealership sites. audi san diego (genuineaudiparts) has it for $237 plus tax, cheapest I found was oemvwshop in eastern europe for $180 usd shipped after the euro conversion.

If you want me to just sell you mine for cheap shoot me a pm with an offer and i’ll get it to you.

edit: I did more research and now I'm even more confused. Anyway, the one I found in my garage is 80A807285M, from my SQ5. Looks like the only difference being that I think it has two extra small indents on the back of it to clear the larger raised lines on the horizontal slats on the SQ5 grille, but mounting seems to be exactly the same as the Q5 S line grille.

Yeah punch in the ball sack for this OEM part, but worth the cost IMO if this is the only thing you can do.

I purposely opted for the 'front plate delete' when I ordered my B9 just to avoid the cost after-the-fact. Nazi CO only enforces front plate retardiness in the commie city of Denver, which I rarely travel in to, and when I do I take a different vehicle altogether. Eff you CO state gov

What a really stupid thing to be so angry about.

There are states literally taking away people’s rights and you’re calling Colorado “fascist” over requiring a license plate.

Hey Gunnarrrrr, this is my front grille. Looks the same as yours except for the front fillers/covers. Do you know how to remove those? If i do that will i then see where this bracket will screw into?
