horrible title for the video. if he used the code that would be much better for searches.

kind of. since im in socal, the heat isn't so much an issue often. so I have not needed to use it too much but I did notice that the air blowing above vents and feet vents are not strong. and also I feel its kind split when I select one or the other. never had that feeling before when I touch the vents. so I scanned and it came up with that code.

the video codes are different tho. not sure if I can assume its the same thing.

would you say its still the motor like shown in the video above?
if it is, then ill just get the right motor for the car I have. I'm just not sure if its the motor that is the issue or a sprocket. i hope its just a bad motor and that should be an easy fix.

The motor I changed was on the drivers side...and wasn't an easy fix.

You need vcds to place the motor in its neutral position then after install it has to be basic set or it wont work.

On top of that its all black plastic and difficult to see as you have to align the motor shaft with the shaft/groove on the ac box...if the motor "died" the flap shaft will be out of place
for the new motor...so you have to set it by hand inorder for the motor to mate up to the flap shaft.

The small torx bit screws holding the motor inplace on the plastic ac box are fun to remove and install.

All the while your on the floor with your head near the gas pedal...looking up at the motor area...using 1 hand as there's no room.

Im not sure what code you have or about OBD11 as I use VCDS...

In the video posted above...he shows codes on his OBD reader and they are different from the code you posted.

Given this...Im not sure of what the code you posted is...B108B71

Following because chances are I'll have to replace whatever you end up replacing.

if your close by cruise over and we can do it at the same time. seems like these things are another common issue to replace.
let me know if you are close I can get it for you at wholesale price.
ill need your vin number to get the right part as well.

so far I am getting that from the schematic above the possible issue is the #3 motor.
and I learned that there are 2 different versions of motor #3.
    1. johnson
    2. sen

its recommended to install the same one.

    I jinxed it.

Originally I just had the B109071 code (Defroster flap)

Scanned today and now I have B109171 and B109113…both something with the front distribution door

949 - not sure if this will work for the HVAC calibration on our cars since I’m still waiting on my defroster motor to show up but was planning on doing this

Side note, I’m not longer in SoCal, otherwise depending on where you’re at you probably would’ve been around the corner lol

that video does not look like it would be the same.

we would need to use vcds or obd11. i have both but I dont know the sequence for either. ill rewatch the first video but again that's not on a vcds or obd11 systems either.

how do we remove the flap/motor/box under the passenger air bag area?

i wanted to verify the flap mechanism movement, image #12. seems like the movement is stiff. might be out of alignment or something is stuck under there. \

i can only see one screw on the bottom on the bracket and the whole box system.

the area I'm talking about is below #9 from the image.
