Here is a quick removal guide for the facelift A3 8P. This is not for removing the entire handle assembly but is only instructions on how to remove the exterior door handle cover. This applies TDI, FWD, or Quattro models as long as it is a facelift (2009-2013). I am in the process of compiling parts for my car and realized I couldn't find any information on how to remove the exterior door handles besides taking apart the entire door and I didn't want to do that. Through some trial and error I was able to find the correct procedure to remove the covers.

The front door handles are oriented to the rear and the rears are oriented towards the front. This will make more sense later. In this example I am using the rear handle.
Door Handle Open (2).jpg
Pull the door handle all the way out. It's easier if the door is locked so it doesn't actually open the door. Then find the small tab. On the rear doors it will be towards the front of the car and on the front doors it will be towards the back of the car. Use a flat head screwdriver to push the tab backwards (shown below).

Now while that tab is pushed back you want to slide the handle. The rear handle will slide towards the front and the front handle will slide towards the rear.

It might be a little easier if you use some lubricant but should come off just fine either way. Below is a picture of the backside of the cover and where it attaches to the assembly for reference. For installation you just push the cover on where it came off and slide it the opposite way until it clicks into place. Hopefully this helps anyone who is wanting to replace their door handle covers without removing the whole assembly!
