    2014 MMI+ - Seamless Apple CarPlay Upgrade?

I’ve seen some discussions about RSNav and other discussions. Just wondering if there is a trouble free add-on to the “MMI plus” on the B 8.5 that brings in apple carplay capability and keeps all other MMI functionality including steering wheel controls and simple phone calls/meeting calls like MS teams, with a one time setup and no ongoing tinkering or glitches.
I have Bluetooth audio streaming with the current MMI which is ok but since I’ve tuned the car and it’s in general good shape, I love it more than when it was brand new and can see driving it as DD until they outlaw sales of gasoline 😉 Would like to get the benefits of CarPlay to at least bring it somewhat closer to current tech capabilities of the new cars today.
From what I see, RS Nav has been out for a few years but it sounds like there are some imperfections or occasional glitches including steering wheel control issues, phone call quality (phone echoes or needing to switch to base Bluetooth connection rather than the CarPlay call, etc).
Mainly want to get CarPlay benefits with no additional complications or switching settings other than the connection choice of plugged in vs Bluetooth after initial setup (I’m ok if wired connection is CarPlay and Bluetooth is purely stock MMI capabilities), is there anything new/trouble free available today? Don’t want to change anything with stock display, just updated tech with stock interior controls and look. If upgrade isn’t “set it and forget it” I’d rather just stay with what I have. TIA for any insight.

The MMI 3G J794 will never have the necessary components for integrated CarPlay. CarPlay functionality is implemented as a separate aftermarket Android device only. So you have the native car systems' video output and audio output, and you have the Android device's video output and audio output. Meaning there has to be an A/B switching concept. The display can be the factory display or an aftermarket display, that's not big deal. But the factory display is low resolution compared to current era standards, and is not touchscreen. There's plenty of hideaway box options that use the factory display and factory controls, etc.

    Thanks!

Anyone have any experience with The Fitting Bay unit on a MMI+ 3G?
