Helmet Recommendations for HPDEs and Track Days?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm looking to start hitting some track days and HPDEs with my S5 and was wondering if there are any SA2020 helmet recommendations folks could make. I'm currently leaning towards a Bell M8. Thanks in advance for any feedback

I found it to be comfortable and cost effective.

Got my Sedici helmet today @ActiveMonkey - it fits great and the price was unreal! Thanks again for the recommendation

Just wanted to mention for future viewers of this thread: the helmet linked above is a motorcycle helmet and is rated M2020. For track days in a car, you need an auto racing helmet which differs from a motorcycle helmet. The current Snell rating is SA2020.

I recently got into track days and bought a Zamp RZ-36 which has a good combination of vents, removable padding, and price. There are entry-level options from RaceQuip and others to look at as well. I found that Summit Racing had a good selection to browse through.

Helmets do expire, so if I'm still doing track days in a few years I'll likely upgrade to something nicer and more lightweight.

Correct @jgood2709 - thanks for posting as I forgot to respond here. I kept the Sedici as the price was great, and ended up getting a Zamp RZ-59. It's a little snug atm but I'm assuming it'll break-in the more I use it.

Correct, and for those who are wondering what the difference is:

Fire - automotive helmets are more fire resistant because of the risk of being trapped in a burning vehicle. The seal around the mask is also designed to melt to seal the helmet from flames and reduce smoke.
Impact - motorcycle helmets are designed to absorb a different kind of impact: sliding.
HANS - Automotive helmets will often have HANS compatibility

One more quick thing to add - current NASA HPDE tech inspection allows for both Snell SA2005+ or M2005+ helmets:
