Cool R8 steering wheel retrofit to C7.5 RS6

I was never a fan of such mods, but I saw it during one of car meets and decided to pull the trigger. Still not convinced, but getting there. The feel is so much different - it's like the steering wheel went on a diet and I feel like I am driving S3 or some other modern car with little steering wheel. Although the diameter is the same (original steering wheel fits like a glove into the box that this one came in), it just feels so much different.

And since I am obsessive 'skip forward'-er when I'm driving and the playlist does not match my mood - I find the next/previous buttons placement ideal for me. This one I'd miss a lot if I changed my mind and decided to go back...

Have a look. Hate if you need - I won't be bothered...

All buttons and the airbag (I hope at least?) work as expected. Dynamic is a bit weird (I don't understand the sequence it uses when changing between modes, but I don't use it anyways). The feel of these plastic/sharp paddles is SO MUCH nicer than the slippery metal ones on OE wheel...

@was003, Did you use the Ambrace setup in this wheel swap?

Naah... the wiring and module included in the steering wheel package (direct from China, where else). On the positive note - everything works. Navi button of course does not work with Carplay, but is trying to force the OE navi, so it's useless. And these forward/back buttons which are not there in the original setup is something that really surprised me - I love it.

I look like a noob now... no. I don't. Alibaba/Aliexpress - the shop that did that found a supplier somewhere there and managed to source it together with OE airbag. I was never interested in DIY because of import restrictions on airbags (in UAE), so it was always impossible to handle these things individually.

Looks really great. I'm in the middle of a nearly identical mod, and I especially appreciate seeing the Urus paddles as I think they look great too.

    Looks fantastic.

I'm in the middle of buying a house far more expensive than I ever thought I would buy, but if I ever financially recover, I will have to put this mod on the top of the list.

you guys live in another world, so don't blame me for not knowing who is manufacturing this thing...
in third world countries like where I am, people protect their businesses like their life depended on it (most likely because it does).

The company who sourced it, listened to all my requirements and follow through with it is available on Instagram - feel free to reach out and check with them if they are willing to share their sources -> @proinventions.ae).

I'm guessing there are a handful of people here who would like to do this conversion and are also willing to pay for a plug and play solution.

If they can repeatedly source parts and produce this wheel it seems it would be beneficial to share some contact information for those interested.

I don't think anyone is blaming you for anything, just asking for some details on the manufacturer.

I’m talking to a supplier now. It’ll be a month or two before I will purchase and then we’re looking at another month for delivery I assume. If the steering wheel works out, I will give everyone here the info. If it doesn’t work out, then I will also give everyone here the info so that they don’t buy the same garbage that I did.

this is all we needed. I totally get the not wanting to list the manufacturer, but the sourcing is a start

Why dont you source a TTRS or R8 steering wheel and get the Ambrace module to enable the functions to work and the newer airbag. Its a few wires and very straightforward to do.

I am totally lost - why all the investigation?

it's a cool thing. Don't like it - don't comment. My car - My decision. I don't care who made it. I like the quality. I am happy with service provided. Sharing this just to show off. Not selling it. Not offering anything.

And - surprise surprise - I'm not in US. That's why we have profile data listed under every avatar. I thought this is C7 forum, not US-spec only?

I’m not sure who was saying it looks bad. Maybe someone who’s peanut butter and jealous?

I love the way it looks. Im trying to source one right now that is a little different but thank you for showing me this possibility.
