    Hi Guys,

I have an error that can happen once a day, 4 times a day, never know. According to my local Acura dealer, it is not leaving a code. They want me to leave the car until they finally see it, and then they will try and figure it out. It only happens when I'm driving and there is no effect when it happens. I wanted to see if any of you have seen this error and what it ended up being. I have a long drive coming up and just want to make sure I'm good. I included the error in an attachment but this is what it says. "Vehicle electronics malfunction! Shift to P before leaving the car. Contact Service". Thanks in advance for any information....

Sorry, I meant Audi Dealer, not Acura. I have a 2015 A3 but I found a long thread on this issue with hopefully the answer on it.

You have issue with the shifter. I have the same on my 15 Audi A3. It doesn't affect driving. The switch that detects it's in "D" cannot read the position. There is a recall on this but I'm at 156K miles and they won't fix it for free. It started happening 2 years ago. Usually is more pronounced in winter months when is cold. I looked into replacing it myself but you need to drop exhaust and drive shaft (if you have quattro).
