    2023 RS7 vs 2024 RS7

    Hi all,

Currently have a 2017 S6. It's been a great car but looking for a little bump. I noticed there are some dealers that have 2023 RS7's in stock (I'm a fan of Daytona grey). My dealer seems to think the 2024's are going to be hard to come by but I could place an order and be on the waiting list.

Would you wait for a 2024 or see if you could make a deal on a 23. I know there is going to be a bump in performance in the 24's Just not sure how easy it is going to be to get a 24 or when they are going to arrive in the US. Anyone with any insight??

    Thanks in advance.

    Chris

I'm on the waitlist for a 24 RS6 performance. I'm seeing allocations distributed through some dealers already so I would imagine they are not as hard to get. But definitely be prepared to wait.

If you’re interested in ceramic brakes then they are no longer an option in 24, so narrows it down. The 24’s get remote start which would be pretty nice. Obviously you get a slight bump in power and lighter wheels with the 24 though.

Performance wise I think a 23 with ceramic brakes would be dead even against a 24 Performance with steel brakes. Now that I have had ceramic brakes I am not sure I can go back.

Also, if you’re going to lease then 24’s will have a higher residual percentage.

OK, made my decision. Have a 24 RS7 in Daytona grey on order. Can't wait.

I have a 2023 D. Gray on Cognac at the dealership we can ship. The allocation for a 2024 is not hard to get either.

I just bought a 2021 Daytona Grey on Cognac. I love the leather color. Enough with the black interiors, already! This one feels like sitting in your favorite baseball glove.

Thanks Brian. I've got it all ordered and I just have to be patient instead of my Veruca Salt self. My 2017 S6 is still a wonderful car so I don't need to rush.
My wife has the cognac interior in her firmament blue S8. Looks great.

Where are you getting that information about the ceramics no longer being an option? If you’re basing that on the configurator not giving the option, I wouldn’t trust it.

See the ceramics at 1:40 mark.

That is a European spec car and likely a press car, notice the lack of amber reflectors. This was likely at launch event by Audi. Ceramics are not an option (not listed on the US spec order guides) for the RS6 or RS7 in the US for 2024 model year.

Hmm. Yes, I have to agree on your first point.

Wow, I seriously cannot believe this decision. They bring out the performance version, but drop the performance brake option. It doesn't make any sense.

They might be added later, it is a supply issue. The rotors are made in Ukraine so in short supply at the moment. They are basically using all the ceramic rotors that have to build the last of the R8’s. Then they can take down that assembly line and reconfigure for something different.

I believe (but could be wrong) that the ceramic brakes are an option on the RS7 but not on the RS6. At least that what I see when you go to configure a car on the Audi website.

Exactly! And the 24's are ALL limited to 155mph top speed! No matter what options you get. Seems odd they call this the "Performance," edition but top speed is very weak. Lastly, my dealer said the RS7 would arrive earlier than the RS6 Avant. But I don't care - I have to get that Avant!

My Audi dealer just texted me last week and said neither the RS6 Avant or RS7 have the option for ceramics. And as I noted on my previous post, the top speed limiter is 155mph no matter what options you get! Soooo, now I'm contemplating on getting a '23 with cermaics and just getting a Stage 1 tune from MTM or somewhere and will have more HP than the Performance edition and it'll have a 185mph top speed.

I ordered a 24 Rs7 in July. Dealer called a couple of weeks ago to say the car is built and scheduled to deliver between December 18th and January 8th. So not to bad of a wait. I’ve also been seeing a lot of talk about ceramic brakes not being an option. We’ll the technical specs call them out as standard which is why you can’t find them as an option on the build configuration.

    A 2023 rs7 with a stage 1 tune will get over 185mph

The car hits 195mph stock of it has ceramic brakes. federal regulations just won't let them sell a car that goes over 155mph with stock brakes because steel brakes don't stop the car fast enough to hit the regulatory number at those speeds

Most tunes remove the electronic supressed top speed limiter though

If you want ceramics then I would either work with a sales rep and get a 24 ordered with them and just wait it out or pick up a 2023

Wish my 2023 had remote start but apparently they can't go activate it retroactively. I'd remote start isn't a big deal for you then grab a 2023
