Worth it to Upgrade to a 2024 RS6 Performance w/o CCBs?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
As the title says, I already have a 2023 RS6, fully loaded with CCBs. Should I wait until the 2025 RS6 "GT" is announced and hope that has CCBs as an option?

It seems like such a waste to get the Performance model, but then gain back all of the weight lost from the new lighter wheels, lighter weight differential, and removal of sound deadening material... with the regular brakes.

Thoughts? Not sure if it will make a noticeable difference in the character of the car, with irons vs CCBs?

Sell your car, lose money, add only 30hp only to lose ccb. Sounds like a lose lose scenario. I'm sure someone will be happy to snap up your 23.

I think ccb would be weight savings in addition to the changes in the performance model. So the advertised changes produce the desired effect with the irons with ccbs shedding even more unsprung weight.

That said, given the performance version is what this car should have been originally, in my opinion, I would wait for the GT and try to scoop one of those up to replace my RS6.

Also, as an owner of an RS6 with steelies, they are fine. Aftermarket pads and rotor options are starting to become more readily available so the $8-10,000 full dealer brake job quotes floating around are now far less ominous...can also buy the brake package at delivery to offset dealer brake job costs if so inclined.

Speed limit with my 2023 w/ CCBs is 189 mph, vs the 155/174 mph for steels.

Buy '24, swap brakes, sell '23, enjoy having the lightest RS6 Performance in the US. I can't imagine it's worth it unless there's something about your '23 you don't like.

I've thought of this many times myself and I agree with the others, it isn't worth it. There is no way to guarantee you'll get a 2024 Performance or 2025 GT given the supply issues and limited production. If you are concerned about this 30 extra HP, upgrade to the RS6 Performance turbos. They are not new, they are the same turbos that have been on the RS Q8 from the beginning. You can cross-reference the part numbers, the RS6 Performance turbos have the same part number as the RS Q8 turbos. They have a larger impeller on the cool side, that is it.

I'm making the switch because I want an AE color and love the blue interior. It's not about the money with me, it's about getting what I want. For what it's worth, I wouldn't have gotten the ceramic brakes even if they were available.

There is no guarantee they will even be doing AE

I'm sure you have different info than I do, but I have been given no indication that this is correct from my dealer. The order sheet I was given had many AE options.

My AE order was accepted this week, but I’m prepared to wait as long as needed. I’m getting out of my ‘21, even though I’ve had no issues with it at 10K miles. I did not option CCBs on the ‘21 as I drive it in snow.

GTs are going to be very hard to get, from what I hear from my dealer, so figured I go the AE route for a Performance. Still have the ‘21 if it never arrives.

What has snow got to do with not ordering CCBs?
I had them on my Porsche as well as the RS6 in winter and they work equally as well in both conditions and we get a good amount of cold and snow up here. Frankly, I look forward to winter driving every year, it's so much fun.
There are a lot of old wives tales out there trying to scare people away for this or that reason but CCBs in my experience are dynamically superior in every way to steel, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

AE is available and included in the '24 RS6 order guide going around which matches what I was given with my order. As of the beginning of July, the wait on AE exterior was around 60 days based on the Goodwood green my dealer had on order.

My AE order is submitted and approved. Dont mind the extra wait (if any) in the event CCBs come back later 🤷*♂️

Personally I would not upgrade to the performance model despite the CCBs. I found it hard to justify the higher price tag with the 30 hp gain and some sound deadening removal. But the CCB basically makes zero brake dust which is super helpful in keeping the car clean.

I'm glad you guys were able to order what you wanted...I was told by my dealer at the end of June that AE for the 2024+ models was up in the air. Given what I'm dealing with right now, I'm not surprised they gave me incorrect information.

You are definitely having an issue none of us have dealt with. Dumb question but can another dealer help you?

I would just put in a JB4 and call it good. You'll get way more than 30 hp. CCBs are awesome and I wish mine had them.

Placed deposit and confirmed order for ‘24 Performance in AE (Goodwood Pearl) on 7/21/23. Build slot says about 5 months. We shall see.

Wow, that is impressive that you could get an allocation that quickly. I seems like people are getting orders more quickly now.

Agree, it seems fast and won't be surprised if it bumps to end of 1Q 2024, but am in the system it seems. I've done a lot of business with this dealer so it helped to grab their attention right when they got their allocations! Lucky timing!
