Has anyone else had recent CarPlay issues? Mine has been acting weird or not able to connect.

I just got a 2023 Audi Q5 S Line and the CarPlay recently stopped connecting, the settings related to it are greyed out including the Bluetooth settings.

The only way I got it to work recently is by enabling the values to ON through the OBDeleven device but when CarPlay doesnt want to connect, it starts to work most of the time when I open the OBDeleven app and then it connects?

Any reason why its doing this and why does it work after simply opening the OBDeleven iPhone app, let alone why do I have to open the OBDeleven app to begin with?

Yes, I have issues with CarPlay. I use a cable connection most of the time. Sometimes the infotainment system finds my iPhone via bluetooth, sometimes not.

A few times the system would not connect to my iPhone and show the icon for CarPlay even though I used a cable. When that happens, I reboot the infotainment system by holding the volume button down.

I had an iPhone (11 or 12?) a few years old, albeit with the most recent iOS update, and CarPlay connection was consistently sketchy. The phone also had consistent GPS issues. I got the most recent iPhone (14) and CarPlay problems 100% solved - completely reliable for ~6 months now (including GPS).

I have intermittent issue with CarPlay with the 14 Pro. Sometimes going through Home > Phone Apps > “Go to connected devices” > Select: Apple CarPlay <your device name> usually fixes it but if not then I force restart my iPhone. If that doesn’t work then I’ll restart MMI like stated above.

My carplay sporadically goes out in parking garages with a bunch of exposed support beams (mall and office type garages)...

I just went through an issue with wireless CarPlay. Phone would not connect to save my life. Tried every which way of forgetting devices and initiating the connection from both MMI and iPhone. Nothing worked.

Figured out that I just needed to rename my CarPlay to something else. That forced everything back to normal and now the phone and MMI are happy again. I haven't tried setting the name back to what it was because I really don't care what its called as long as it works.

Not exactly the same issue, because I use android - but sometimes the bluetooth will connect but the rest of the connection wont happen. Recent updates seem to have fixed it.

The worst thing you can do is connect your phone as a bluetooth music player - then wireless carplay/android auto will never work.

One thing that is pretty cool - We have figured out ( don't ask me how) to get my car to connect to android auto wirelessly to run waze, etc - then run music through a wired connection to wifeys iphone through the usb port in front. Works like a dream - somehow the iphone doesn't try to take over the infotainment - so long as we connect the android auto first.

Now I have this one location I drive by - where soldiers filed road connects to storrow drive - the little bridge to cambridge for those of you who are local - my whole android auto just crashes - wired or wireless.

its all smoke and charms to me.
