Any high mileage B9 SQ5 owners here?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello,

Just wanted to see if there were any high mileage B9 SQ5 owners here. My 2018 SQ5 currently has around 35k miles because I bought it used and the CPO warranty will end in a couple of months. I wanted to see how many more miles I'll be able to ideally drive my SQ5 without any sizeable repairs and be worry-free. I'm initially thinking to maybe 85k miles? It'd be great to hear how many miles you've accumulated and what repairs you needed to have done, if any. Thank you!

Curious to hear this as well, as I hope to acquire a 2019 with 39k miles today! Its factory warranty is ending in a few months, and from there I will only have 2 years CPO warranty.

How are things in the 50k - 100k mile range?

I'd think it would be a matter of a lot of factors. When I bought my first X5 all I heard was "BUY THE EXTENDED WARRENTY - DON'T OWN ONE OUT OF WARRENTY!" But I have always been a wrench turner and never buy extended warranties (that savings alone I could buy a new car outright and be ahead LOL) and my X5 just passed 150K and still runs like a top. It'll likely go down the road this fall to be replaced by the SQ5, but it would not scare me to drive it longer. Just took it on a trip last week. Maintain the car, keep it up and they will last a long time. This might be the one that "gets me" but like I said - the savings from all the warranties I DIDN'T buy over the decades would pay for a LOT of issues. But if the dealer does all your work for you - this could make this a very different argument for sure!

56k miles on a 2021 SQ5. I bought the dealer network extended warranty (but only extends to 60 months/60k miles) provided they replace the brakes ($2,500 - $5,000) for free even if not needed. Turns out a door handle sensor stopped working too ($1,600). I just got both fixed at zero cost. Extended warranty was $1,600. And, BTW my brakes feel WAY better. Must have had a bit of air in the lines or something. Either way, that's it, despite tons of hard driving (200+ launches, lots of high temp driving, and stage 1 tuned too).

I've only ever bought Japanese cars prior and would never, ever even think of such a thing as an extended warranty. Obviously German cars are not that. The B9/9.5 3.0T power/drive train seems very robust buy anything from air suspension to HVAC to electronics are bound to be a nightmare in short order, just like most any German car. My original plan was to sell at ~75k miles, and still plan on that.

I'm rocking 93k miles on my 2018 running our Stage 3 catalog (tuned since 30k miles), and it's been nothing short of perfect. Don't wait to enjoy the car, start making it exactly how you'd like it.

My 2018 B9 SQ5 just hit 21k, bought it in 2022 with 11k. My 2018 Q7 has 47k miles, doing well as long at you keep up with maintenance. The 2015 B8 SQ5 had 87k miles on it when I sold it. Didn't have any issues, did all preventative maintenance and it ran strong. But from what I heard those supercharged V6 engine is bullet proof. We shall see how the new turbo V6 handles.

Nick's car has been on ethanol for probably 50k of his 63k miles tuned, if not more.

54k on my 2018. Only issue this far have been water pump and vacuum switching valve, oh and those stupid reverse light bulbs. Daily driver on 034 Stage 1 E85.

    2018 SQ5 - 92k miles

Pretty solid overall, but here were my issues:

    - Faulty DV (83k miles)
    - Solenoid Valve/Coolant Issues (started around 75k miles, replaced valve three times at 79k/89k/92k)
    - Replaced Coolant Shut Off Valve (92k miles)
    - Leaking Oil (started at 50k or 60k, replaced oil filter housing that seemed to help, but slight leak continues - might be a rear seal)
    - Door Handle Sensor (90k miles)
    - Wastegate Stuck Code (92k miles)
    - No Rocker Arm Issues (knock on wood)

That being said, I love the car and I’m considering trading it in for a B9.5 just to get over these early build quirks.

55k with my 2018 SQ5 and it’s been smooth so far. I did have the rear wheel arch flying off but that was later recalled. Just the typical service intervals, and now that it’s out of warranty looking forward to a tune.

    52k with 034 stage 1 on 91 octane -

ran into the rocker arm issue, but otherwise problem free besides a what looks like a rear main seal leak. replaced the PCV (above and below turbo), oil filter housing seal, water pump, thermostat, and a bunch of other seals that were listed in a TSB somewhere for 2018-2019 audi's with oil leaks.

Jinxed myself, got a small oil leak found at service, but seems to be a known thing. Gonna get it looked at after my trip.

Rear main seal perhaps? I just discovered that my seal is leaking a few months ago. Only a few tiny spots occasionally and my mechanic advised to ignore it until if/when it gets significantly worse.

I am at 76k, not tuned, engine/transmission have been pretty solid I still have minor electronic gremlins. I'd like to drive it to 120k or so because I still love the car, but I am considering trading it before anything too expensive breaks. I don't mind maintenance $$, just don't want something expensive to fail.

Possibly, my mechanic also noticed that it wasn’t a whole lot so they’ll check it again after the next oil change.

2018 SQ5 93k miles, no issues, and I have 30 months left on a platinum warranty as I just bought the car from an Audi dealer in April. No rocker issues, knock on wood!

You bought a 5-year old car with almost 100k miles on it? Brave.

Eh? One owner, all records, serviced at same dealer since new and I got extended warranty, figured it was mostly highway miles.

does the audi platinum extended warranty cover all of the potential oil leaks? mine was dumping oil from the pan, oil cooler, filter housing and rear main seal at or around 50k miles. parts were cheap but getting that rear main seal replaced was a pain on jack stands.

To chime in on the thread, I'm at 65k miles 034 stage 2 on ethanol since 30k miles. 2018, old school rocker arms. Runs like a champ, abusing the hell out of this car.

Update on this: getting the oil filter housing replaced now since the leak was continuing.
