    Lightbulb Headlight Upgrade

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Howdy!
I am looking to upgrade the headlight on my 2013 RS5(since its an audi and the lighting is bad compare to my B9 one) and I am a big timmy on this part of the car, and please forgive me if I ask some dump questions.
Is it possible to upgrade to B9 LED matrx headlight? How hard would it be for the reprogram and what could be the main problem I may facing?
What is the best bulb for upgrade? LED or HID? A specific product that I can take a look would be appreciated.
Any other lighting suggestions on B8 rs5?
    Thank in advance!
    Gavin

First thing would be to upgrad to E-codes (euro headlights, have better lens and reflectors). I did buy a set of LED bulbs from deAutoLED.com bulbs (audizine sponsor). I do think they made a slight improvement. A lot of the cheaper Chinese bulbs are the wrong shape or length and don't work good with the Audi Lens but I think deAuto found a good compromise, not a huge improvement but a slight improvement. They have a sale on here regularly so I'd alway wait for the sale price.

Both of those kits are the AFS headlamps. It appears all US B8.5 RS5 included AFS ("adaptive front-lighting system", ie cornering lamp).

Between the two, under kit contents, you see the expensive kit are Audi OE headlamps (actual Audi p/n, Audi stamped, etc). The cheaper kit is the Automotive Lighting OEM headlamps. AL is who makes all the Audi B8 headlamps. So this is simply "AL's product with the Audi stamp" vs "AL's same product without the Audi stamp".

SMAC is dead on, your RS5 has the AFS version of the headlamps so you need the AFS Euro HID's. Whether you want to spend the $160 or so on sale of the DE Auto LED's on top of that is up to you. Definitely don't spend the money on the OEM Audi Euro Headlamps, if you're going to do it buy the Automotive Lighting version which is the exact same, just without the Audi Sticker for less.

As said above the the Automotive Lighting is the same as OE

I have AL AFS on my S5 Prestige with Osram Nightbreaker bulbs

There are tons of testers on YouTube that review actual light output Don’t get hung up on wanting blue or even bright white. OE color 4300-4500 gives the most visibility

You can't use a different Audi p/n, but you can certainly look for a non-Audi branded equivalent to the Audi p/n. But there is the prior catalog p/n (8T0 941 031 E) and the current catalog p/n (8T0 941 753 E) for that specific headlamp that you can search on. But needs to be rev E in either case. Plenty of listings on eBay it seems for ones well less than 4 digits.

if you wanna buy euro lights, look on ebay and find a seller that sells from latvia. i think its 0e245 or car245 or something like that.

anyhow, i've bought multiple sets from him and they are WAAAAYYYYY less than ecs tuning and are oem.

Anyway you can post a link? Everyone on the Facebook marketplace /audo group keep scamming I’m not going for that lol. I found one for about 650 it’s used but in good shape. And all the ones I see on eBay are still about 1200$

I haven't bought a headlight from them but I've also bought a few parts from OE245 that were new Audi parts and cheaper than I could find in N.America. Happy with them, the couple of times did take around a month to get my parts though.
