    Bumper Scratches From Scraping Curb

Well, I let my neighbor drive my sebring black 2021 Audi RS7 and he pulled too far forward when pulling into a parking spot. As you can see from the attached pictures, he scraped the curb and there is damage to the underside of the front corner of the passenger side bumper. Yes, it's a real bummer, but on the other hand, you can't see any of the damage unless you bend all the way down or look under the bumper. A tiny bit of the damage does show up at the very bottom of the bumper before it curves to the underside, but I'm hopeful that the scratches should be almost imperceptible when I wash my car soon. You can see the scratches so easily on the first picture because the bumper is dirty.

Anyway, considering how much that bumper will likely cost to repair or replace, I'm thinking of just leaving it the way it is. Just wondered if anyone has any tips on whether I should leave it be vs. getting it fixed. Maybe having the scratches buffed down and painted with sebring black touch up paint? I just don't want to have a whole new bumper put on or have it heavily repaired due to the cost and because I don't want to have an area where the paint doesn't match. I wish there was some sort of "trim" or cover piece I could affix to the very bottom of the bumper to sort of hide/cover the visible scratches, which I could put on the other side for symmetry, but I don't know if something like that exists. The car is purchased, not leased. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Good body shop can repair that. Not sure if a full repaint of the bumper is required. Has cost me about $1000 to have a bumper repair and repaint in the past. Would avoid insurance to keep from generating a Carfax.

Since it is underneath and on an already low car...i would either have it fine sanded and use touch up paint, or sand and then vinyl wrap it. In my experience with 70 cars...no matter how careful you are it will happen again. Wrapping it does not require the bumper being removed.

Very lucky it is where you can't really see it.

As stated above...a good body shop could probably sand and respray while on the car...since its underneath.

Dealer backed my RS6 with 500 miles on it into something and dented the bumper. I used the body shop the local Bentley/Rolls dealer uses. They took the bumper off to refinish.

Thank you all for your helpful responses. My stress level has significantly decreased! I took it to a local body shop today and the employee looked at it and said that he believes that he can just wet sand the area that I want repaired and then paint it with Audi touchup paint, which he can order himself from Audi, or he gave me the option of ordering it myself and then bringing him the paint. I’m waiting for him to send me a written estimate, but I doubt it’s going to cost that much money. I’ll keep everyone updated just in case it helps anyone in the future. Now I need to look online for genuine Audi sebring black touch up paint. Thanks again.

If they are good at wet sanding that is the way to go. It is amazing what they can do.

Another suggestion you could try and look for an aftermarket front lip. May be able to get one that covers it up or makes it less noticeable.
