    Increased Oil Pressure on 3.0T

Has anyone here played with disabling the low-pressure N428 solenoid? I did this on my old ea888.3 2.0tfsi with no ill effects. I ran an analog gauge to watch summer and winter months to watch.

1.5bar(21.7psi) up to 4400 doesn't seem good enough. Thoughts of just unplugging it to default of 3.3bar(47.8psi) all the time?

Sounds good in theory, I would like to know more about how the oil pressure metering works in our cars, and any potential negative effects, and most importantly, why they did it like this in the first place.

My guess would be fuel mileage, emissions, and oil consumption.

From limited reading it seems that in most engines below 20 psi is considered too low. If the Audi engines are set for 21 PSI they should be fine and likely running a bit more anyways. My Wrangler has a digital oil pressure readout and it runs around 31 psi at idle and steady load, under moderate acceleration I see a higher number and 70 or more when getting on it more. I would suspect the Audi engine runs similarly. A potential downside to an oil pressure that is too high is that it opens up the bypass valve and now you are passing “dirty” oil through the engine.

Here is what I found for the 3.0T. 4.0T is the same, except they added a solenoid for piston cooling control on rpm/load based. 2.0T will be the same as 3.0T in my experience.

low pressure for economy (we coated all the moving parts for less oil use). High pressure for RPM/Load/Failsafe. 11 Bar relief valve.

1st Gen 3.0T SSP refers to the 2.8/3.2FSI oiling system as it is the same expect a few changes in the head.

    1st gen 3.0T aka 2.8/3.2FSI

    4th gen 3.0T CREC

    4.0T

    I will go unplug mine.

So ... My 2013 3.0t does not appear to have the N428 solenoid. Above the oil cooler. Maybe I missed it, but also did not find the wiring either.

    I will check vcds blocks
