Growling or rumble noise at low speed

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Between 15 and 20 MPH there is a growling or rumbling sound coming from the drive train. Sounds like perhaps a wheel bearing but the sound goes away with speeds above 20 MPH. This is on a 2015 Allroad with 52K miles. Perhaps a suspension or bent wheel problem? Any thoughts?

Is the B8 chassis noted for this rumble? My C5 Allroad does not have it,

Could be the middle support bearing on the driveshaft for the rear diff. Could be many other things too. Need to know where the sound is coming from better.

@DavidAR Any update on the noise? My 2015 seems like it’s developed the same noise.

Having replaced both front wheel bearings on my '13 allroad..... one at 176k miles and the other one at 199k miles..... the noise you're hearing sounds like the beginning of a wheel bearing going bad. get back with us in a couple of weeks. It should get a little louder and the speed in which the noise disappears should get higher.

I’ll need to investigate a bit more for sure as I only have 53k, but do have the 19” Black Optic wheels and 10mm H&R spacers all around. Perhaps the combination accelerated the wear on the wheel bearings.

As long as the spacers are fitted properly, the right bolts were used, shouldn't be an issue at all. I run 10mm spacers.
