Aftermarket Paddle Shifter Options - Let’s See Yours!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I’m looking for better shift paddle options. As a shift paddle enthusiast, the stock ones on my B9.5 leave a lot to be desired. I’m not into stick-ons, so here’s what I’ve found so far in terms of full replacements.

    IMG_3759.jpg
Madtrace Clubsport magnetic full replacements - $359

Other than the looks not being my favorite, these ones probably are the most enjoyable to use. The price is hefty, however.

    IMG_3761.jpg
    BFI billet beauties - $299

These look really great, but I don’t think they go with the interior design of the B9.5. They do maintain the factory illumination which is super cool.

    IMG_3760.jpg
    CTS Turbo - $149

These look pretty good, the price is good, but again I don’t think they would look cohesive in the interior. The little sharp angles at the top would clash with the design language.

    IMG_3763.jpg
    ECS Tuning plastic stick-ons - $4.00

Yes, they are on sale for four bucks because nobody wants them.

I bought them, and that’s what got this whole thing started. I put them on, and they actually went great with the design language! The silver matched the silver trim on the lower part of the steering wheel.

They felt like crap though and really only looked good if you didn’t look directly at them.

    Enter the Porsche paddles

    IMG_3762.jpg
I picked a brand new set up from ECS tuning on sale for $78.39.
They mimic the $4 ones but are actual full replacements.
Obviously they will not fit the way they are. There is a chance the electronics are the same, but I’m not counting on it.
My goal is to see if I can’t engineer a way to make them work. I think it would be awesome and unique! If I can’t make it work though… I’d like to see some more ideas. I’ve seen the Racingline pieces, not interested in those. I’m excited to see what people are rocking! Thanks in advance!

I mean, sure, they’re fine. They’re understated, well-made. I just want something more exciting.

I made these from scratch (ie. CAD designed, made the mould, baked the prepreg carbon fiber, reverse engineered the 'box' to mate with the factory electronics, etc). I've been running them for a few months now as prototypes and am certainly curious what folks think of the design. Love it, hate it, whatever - I'm keen for any feedback. I've already heard that the +/- is a bit too large and thick, and I agree. My goal was to create something more ergonomic than the flat/stick on variety and not quite as large, as I think the ones on the left in the comparison picture below are too big and actually non-functional when you pull at the very ends. Obviously I used the Urus paddles as a bit of a guide, but I don't think the design exactly fits the interior. I'm not convinced my design does either, but it's just the first version after all. Thoughts?

Don't have a good pic on hand but I have these solid aluminum paddle replacements. Forgot where I got them, but they were a steal for solid aluminum at $60
Love them so much, they match the filet radius as other things and look OEM.

I really want the magtrace magnetic module and paddle replacement, may get them eventually after selling my left arm for a set of paddles lol. Tried them on my friends m3 and the snap is like shooting a rifle.

Yeah I'll try to track them down. I have never seen them on any other car, think it was like one seller on page 10+ on eBay lol, ill see if it's there

edit: they're on the front page now lol, when I bought them, the default is red and you've got to message the seller to specify silver so watch out for that.
These are the only thing I've got on my car that no one else has lol, feel like I'm giving away secrets :)

Very cool that you made these. I hope to have that skill set someday.

I think they’re a bit round at the ends for the interior design theme of the B9, but really they look very good for having been made by you! I’d love to see future design iterations posted.

No problem! let us know what you go with.
This with the stock wheel and the aftermarket leather airbag covers would just be perfect.

I went with the nuclear option. The Mad Trace magnetic shifters. IMG_3825.jpg
    IMG_3827.jpg

I’m not a massive fan of the carbon fiber, I think I’d prefer an aluminum to match the lower spokes of the wheel, but their functionality is awesome! It’s really like firing a rifle.

I looked on their site and I did see they had aluminum paddles you could buy separately. I didn’t see an option to buy them with the aluminum ones.
