B8 LED tail light help please :)

Hey all, I was messing around with my tail lights just trying different things out with painting the insides etc but now I’m having issues with the DRL LED lights not lighting up.

For some reason only 2 single LEDs are lighting up and all the other tail lights are turned off. The lower break light and side markers are still functioning but the LEDs won’t light up.

I have the error codes for left right tail light malfunction but can anyone shed some light as to why only 2 single LEDs light up and the others all shut off? Does the j393 module turn off all LEDs if it senses a circuit malfunction?

I did accidentally cut thru part of the ribbon on one of the inner tail lights but that’s the tail light that actually has 2 LEDs working. Does anyone know if it’s possible to repair the ribbon?

    Thank you!

Alright, update for anyone of the 212 people who viewed this post recently :)

I managed to solder and repair the cut ribbon and the one inner tail light that only had 2 LEDs lighting up turned back on and is fully functioning.

As for the other inner tail light (trunk mounted) this one is not turning on at all. I tried plugging it into the harness on the working tail light and it did not light up. This really has me confused as I don’t know why it’s not lighting up since nothing was damaged on it and it was working previously:

The other two outer lights have brake lights and turn signals working but DRLs are not turning on either.

Does anyone know if there is a fuse or relay for the tail lights?

No fuse, no relay. There are fuses between the battery and J393 for the J393's circuits that power the tail lights. But no fuses between the J393 and tail lights.

The pinout for the left and right inner assemblies is not the same. They are inverted. So pin 1 on the left is ground (brown); pin 5 on the right is ground (brown). So you'd need to invert the wires on the right plug pins 1-5 to correctly drive the left unit.
