I dropped my car off Friday evening and picked it up Sunday afternoon. I could have picked it up earlier Sunday but the wife had been after me to see the Columbus Zoo for years, so we did that and afterwards picked the car up.
Regarding price, if you click on the
"About" link on the Reflective Surfaces website, you'll see that he does a full inspection on every car, including testing paint thickness with an electronic gauge. As noted on that web page, "
My intake document includes a complete set of inspections and a full disclosure and sign-off on work to be done so expectations are clear for both parties. ... I take the time to complete a full overview of the vehicle for pre-existing conditions such as dents, scratches, or paintwork. Sometimes, I find damage or paintwork that the current owner wasn't even aware of, especially on vehicles they purchased used. This documentation ensures we both acknowledge the identified damage or defects. I also perform a second full inspection after the initial wash, as dings and scratches can be masked by dirt and revealed once the surfaces are clean. I notify the owner before beginning any work."
My S5 only has 3.5k miles on it, essentially a "new car". I dropped it off freshly washed and clean -- not that it had to be, but I'm OCD about its care. Following Tim's inspection when you first drop off the car, he provides the estimate of the price you'll pay. I was quoted and paid $925. Of course the price and time involved can also vary by the detailing options you choose, e.g., if you want the engine compartment and/or interior detailed, etc.
Like you, I need to have someone I trust to work on my baby, and that's precisely why wouldn't go to anyone else for detailing. His work on our 2011 S4 (in 2018) was exceptional, which made the decision to have him do our new S5 an easy decision. Finally, I'd suggest looking through the owner testimonials on the Reflective Surfaces website:
http://www.reflectivesurfaces.net/testimonials.html. They'll give you a feel for wheat you can expect when your car is detailed here.
