My parking brake is squealing quite loud when engaged. Any remedy suggestions short of replacing parts? They're $$$. Thanks

Sometimes all they need are stripped down and lubed, had that on my previous Passat with an EPB. Thought is was going to need new motors but just needed a strip, clean and lube.

Good to know. My parking brake has gotten a bit noisy over the past six months or so. After 95k miles, rears are getting a bit low, so I’ll have this looked at when its time for brakes.

My parking brake has squealed like a horny bird since I've owned it. It's now been 11-years and nearly 200,000 miles and that damn thing is as horny/noisy as ever. :)

My S5 epb has started screeching about a year ago. Mechanic says it's a sealed unit, nothing to lube. Maybe just deferring teardown until the next brake job.

Good to know it's not causing any harm. I lived through both brakes seizing on the B7 S4 ($500 a pop)!

My 2014 A4 S-Line E-brakes have been squealing for as long as I remember. As long as the E-brake still works I'm not concerned about it, but it's nice to hear that I'm not the only one experiencing it.
