Possible 2019 Q7 Prestige Purchase Question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My wife and I are considering purchasing a 2019 Q7 Prestige very well optioned. I don't know anything about Q7's to know if we are making a terrible financial mistake or not.

Please see attached window sticker. Car is in very good condition. 29k miles. Still under warranty until next month.

Would you say this vehicle is worth around $52,000? Also if you own one please chime in if you like or hate the 2019 Q7. Biggest purchase of my life. I have a 2016 A6 TDI but have never owned a Q7.Screenshot_20230428_132608_Adobe%20Fill%20%26%20Sign.jpgScreenshot_20230428_174353_Facebook.jpgScreenshot_20230428_174345_Facebook.jpg

I bought essentially this cars twin + b&o sound back in January for $46.2k so I’d say $52k is a bit rich.

I guess it depends on if you’ve been searching for these specific options or not. The cedar brown + lux is such a beautiful interior that you won’t find very often. Add in the 22” wheels and it could be a few months before you find one as nicely optioned as you have here. The only must haves while I was shopping were BOP & adaptive air but now that I have the cedar lux interior and 22s I’m glad I didn’t settle for a lower optioned one for a few bucks cheaper

And I hear you on being nervous on the purchase. For the first couple days after I got mine I was asking myself did I really pay $50k out the door for a 4 year old German suv? It’s about double what I’ve ever paid for a vehicle before but in the first 4 months of ownership I’ve got no regrets. The 2015 sq5 that this replaced felt like a tin can in comparison

So yeh, 52 is a little high but I do think I got a pretty good deal on mine. 48-49 seems fair to me

He won't budge. Can't find any for sale with these options besides this one, unfortunately. It does have audi care that expires in 05/2026. I honestly haven't seen any 2019 this loaded. That's cool that you got one very identical. Did it have about the same miles at that price? Seems cars this expensive tend to only be at dealers which the price they charge is way above retail kbb because they can. I didn't know B&O was an option. I didn't see it in the catalog.

On a side note. I looked at 2020 Q7's and the touchscreen look like a nightmare. Seems the engine also has even worse mpg. Having a TDI A6 in my garage this Q7's fuel economy already gets me depressed lol.

Damn, surprised he won’t budge at 52k…it ain’t 2021 anymore. What exactly does Audicare cover - all scheduled maintenance? If so, having that for the next 3 years definitely adds some value but the price still seems high.

Mine had slightly lower miles @ 25k and the warranty just expired last week. Are you trading your current car in? The dealership I got mine at offered a pitiful trade in on the sq5 (probably how they were able to sell the q7 at a lower price) so I sold it privately for roughly 35% more than trade. If they’re offering a fair trade on your car that could help

B&O sounds amazing and was a $5k option. Idk who was ordering $90k Q7s back in 2019 but I was happy to grab it for half off less than 4 years later

Possible 2019 Q7 Prestige Purchase Question

Dealer pricing is always going to be above the private party value, so $52k seems about right if it’s at a dealer for that spec. PP would be around the $48-49k.

Also depends what they are into is for too. This dealer could give some good trade in values, but need to make up for it on the sale. So many factors.

All comes down to you and your personal budget/desire. Is spending a couple grand more worth the spec, vehicle condition and having AudiCare?

Yes Audi care is prepaid maintenance . It's a private seller but I'm worried if we pass on it we won't find one for awhile. Or will have to travel out of state which will make getting the car even more expensive. B&O is nice but I really doubt there is that many out in this world with every option.

Nighy vision and B&O is only options missing I believe. I guess I'll just have to pay extra.

Only other Q7 with same features I found was this:

I’m in the northeast so not sure how the market is in the pnw but I can’t imagine that car moving very quickly with a private seller unwilling to budge from $52k. That black one is beautiful and the murillo brown interior is super rare. Have you spoken to that dealer at all?

I talked to the dealer they wouldn't budge at all either. Also the black Q7 did not have audi care. The white one has it until 2026. I got seller to budge to $51,500. He did throw in Q7 cargo mat for trunk and heavy duty Q7 floor mats.

The black one had that rare interior, but my wife preferred the white exterior that made the black optics package pop with lighter brown. Plus, it was about $2500 cheaper.

Plus I have an A6 with exclusive Alabastar white interior, and it's cool until something gets damaged then it has to be special ordered from Germany and is insanely overpriced.

hmm tough call. I guess if you see value in the audi care and would've gone to the dealer for maintenance regardless, then that's probably worth $2-3k

    clean carfax? decent tires?

have you been searching for a while? it took me close to 2 months to find mine and i was searching in what's probably the most populous 500 mile radius in the country. imo 51.5 from a private seller is probably gonna sit for a while but you never know if someone else is out there willing to spend that

We were honestly looking for a 2015 TDI but the once we test drove one we wanted we just thought the adaptive cruise and other driver assistance stuff from that year wasn't very good. My 2016 A6 adaptive cruise control was way better. If it was my car I would of chose the black Q7 for the rare interior, but my wife loves the white with the black optics package, so I caved.

But with this expensive of a car it is hard to find a private seller and dealer charges a premium regardless even when they just wash it and sell it. Plus, if we have to pay to fly ect it probably would of shook out not far off from 50k. This car was in western Washington, where we live in eastern Washington, so it wasn't very far or expensive for us to go get.

It's a done deal now it's in my garage so unfortunately, whether it was a financial mistake or not lol. I really appreciate all your input. Have you had any issues with yours?Resized_20230429_214924.jpg

I wouldn’t. That has 16k more miles. That’s 1.5-2yrs of driving… Plus, your wheels are better.

I recently bought a 2018 Prestige Trim with 19k miles for 48k. Option wise, very similar... mine does not have the black optics or 22 inch rims, but does have the luxury and the cold weather packages. So, price wise, seems in check with the current market. I will tell you that I love my car so far...

yeh i wouldnt feel too bad. although the B&O absolutely slaps, it has 17K+ miles and honda accord wheels so i don't think it's a better deal

not sure if the deal i got is indicative of the current market now that i see more of what people are paying. i just think the dealership i got mine screwed the original owner on trade in and was happy to move inventory quickly

Honda accord wheels? Lol. Wheels can always be replaced B&O and night vision very difficult to add later.

It’s all what’s important to you in the end. Stereo’s can be upgraded as well. Either way, I’d choose lower miles, but that is seemingly less important to you.

Hope you enjoy it over time

i kid i kid but yeh, the standard 2019 black optic wheels are not my favorite but i wouldn't have let it keep it from making a purchase. but like MattyMarkey said, if that's not important to you i could see how you're a bit disappointed. Had i purchased a 2019 with the standard black optic wheels i'd definitely be looking to replace with the 22s and that + tires would probably make up the $3,500 difference in your purchase price and the one at the dealer

yeh good question. when i was shopping around that was one of the talking points i ran into - that these highly optioned ones are still commanding premiums. i'm not sure how much validity there is to that though. Mine had a 90k sticker and is missing night vision, design select, and strangely, cold weather which was odd since it was only $600 and i'm in the NE. So by my math a fully optioned one would have a $95k+ sticker...which would get you a 2020 prestige sq7. i know i'd rather have the sq7

I did just stumble across this old thread and it sounds like audi was highly discounting 2019s. might be able to find a fully loaded one there

A bit high. Bought ours in 2021 (MY2017) with same options except black optic, with 30k miles, paid $44k. Right now no one is hoarding cars anymore and dealers probably stuck with some inventories they have to let them go. Shop around more you will find the right vehicle, took us about 1 month to find ours.

Yeah pretty much. That Q7 I sent the link to is the only one I've seen with every option. Doesn't have design selection, but honestly didn't like the dark brown interior with design selection anyway.

Never even seen another 2019 Q7 with night vision.

Even though it wasn't the wisest financial decision we traded in the first Q7, and we got this fully optioned Q7. This one is a keeper 20230513_163652.jpg

Damn, that’s wild! Full circle to the “are we making a terrible financial mistake” statement/question.

    Congrats and enjoy it!

Thank you. Enjoyed the B&O the whole 4 hour ride home! Night vision helped us dodge a drunk guy on a lime scooter too lol.

Lost some equity but not that bad. Didn't have to pay sales tax again since both values were so close.

My wife already thinks I’m crazy for the amount of cars I’ve owned, but if I did this, she would think I’d need some therapy. What a wild move haha

I'm very frugal in most aspects of my life. I actually ride my electric bike to work, which is 15 miles each way. The car was for her. Granted I do drive us around in it on the weekend. So when it comes to cars I do tend to go a little hamm. But I'd rather spend a couple extra grand and get one that has all the options if we are gonna be using it for the next 10 years or so.

My car is my 2016 A6 TDI but I ride my bike to stay fit and keep that parked in the garage except for long trips or when it is cold out but no snow as I want to keep it in pristine condition since it's 1 of 1 for 2016.

So she is somewhat guilty lol. That is why she was okay with it.

Are there any common problems with the 2019 Q7s? I need to move to an SUV and want to stay with Audi. Doing early research

I've only one for a couple of months, so I can't really say. We had a couple parking brake errors, but it happened only twice. Averages 23 mpg and in my opinion moves pretty quick for the tank that it is. Make sure you do the research on the packages you want so you don't have buyers remorse and trade in your new one a couple weeks later like I did lol.

Thanks, I love my B8 S4 but the combination of needing more space and repairs got me looking at something else. Only other SUV is consider is an MDX but I hate the interior

As reliable as the 3.0T CREC engine is, the MDX will be much more reliable, with maintenance and repairs costing far less.

I also dislike the stacked screen and sharp lines of the MDX interior though. Personally would wait for the new Lexus GX or TX
