    Front and rear brake upgrade: A3 8V over 350 whp specific

    This post is for those A3 owners, not S3. If you're an A3 owner with over 300whp, what kinda brake system you're using?

    I'm planning to drop in the APR DTR6054 turbo with all the necessary support mod (Intake, IC, tune, etc). Technically speaking this setup will result in over 350 whp. Then I doubt the stock brake system will hold up. By "stock brake system" I mean the stock size single piston front caliper and stock size front rotor. All my vehicles (total of 5) had cross drilled/slotted rotors and performance sport brake pads all around (even the minivan lol), except the A3, since I owned it for a week only lol.

    As for rear brake, I saw alot of vendors offer adaptor bracket to fit 350mm rotor with OEM rear single piston caliper. However, every vendor noted that "only fit A3's with ventilated rear rotors, and WILL NOT fit cars originally equipped with solid rotors". Unfortunately my A3 has solid rear rotor lol (Yeah, my car doesn't have any options lol) and e-parking brake. Is that means I can't do shit with my rear brake?

    Any advise appreciated. I might be new to the Audi VW world. I've been a heavily modded GM guy for many years. So I know what stops the car.

    Those looks very nice on your S3. What brand is that and how much? I did quite some research and didn't see yours. The RacingLine Stage 2 EVO 4 port might be my choice.

    Coming from GM world, the best thing is almost EVERYTHING interchangeable. I know Audi VW world the same. So any OEM big brake upgrade option for an A3 2.0T quattro, bigger rotor and 4 port caliper, for about $2k?

    I've the 18" 10 spoke wheels. I think the biggest rotor it'll fit is 355mm. I don't think 6 port caliper needed for under 400whp even track use.

    OEM...yes.

    S3 brakes. Or TTS setup

    You probably don't really NEED to upgrade to a BBK. Just some decent pads and fluid should keep your pedal from hitting the floor unless you are driving on some brake intensive tracks.
    For the street, you should be fine with the stock brakes unless you are driving like an animal down hills.

    Cross drilled and/or slotted rotors don't do as much as you think, but they do look cool. Lots or racers avoid drilled rotors because the drilled holes cause stress risers and lead to cracks.

    If you want better braking performance start with your tires. Then pads. S3s run nearly 500whp on the stock calipers/rotor size without any trouble so 350whp should be a piece of cake.

    What are you goals for the upgrade?

    Much appreciate the advise. Like I said, I might be new to the Audi VW world. I've been a heavily modded GM guy for many years, running 450-500whp LS1 and 2. I know a thing or two.

    Please keep in mind that I've an "A3", which has a tiny single piston caliper and a brake rotor similar size to my fry pan. With a stage 1 tune, yeah. Stage 2 and over, I don't really think they're suitable even for street use with good tires and pad on all four wheels.

    Try some Porterfield R4S pads with some ATE Typ 200 or better brake fluid. If you are still boiling your fluid, you are: A) driving way too aggressively for public roads and B) could still run some Porterfield R4 pads. If you cook some R4 pads on the street you are a mad man.
    For some perspective take a look at the Group 6 SVRA guys, they run stock single piston calipers and sometimes even have drum brakes in the rear while trying to tame heavy 700+hp muscle cars on serious race tracks.
    What Texasboy said about the tires is critical too of course. If your tires aren't sticking HP and big brakes don't make a lick of difference.

    Getting off my soapbox here, ECS tuning used to make an upgraded rear rotor for the A3. I am not sure if they still do. I think this is it: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-part...813ecs01-01kt/ but you might want to speak to someone at ECS as it's not listed to fit the Quattro's.

    Macan / Q5 3.0t front brake calipers bolt up to 340/345mm rotors. ECS sells a kit that bolts up for the S3. I doubt the knuckles are different but ECS is pretty good about stating whether or not they will fit a given car and year.

    Its like 1400 bucks or less depending on needs and its great. There is a company that sells custom stainless brake lines that go with them for like $100 as well.
