Last summer my C7 A6 was broken into in a crowded parking lot and stolen without a key. I recently acquired a C8 A6 but still have to frequent the same parking lot where break-ins and thefts are rampant. As you can imagine, I'm now quite paranoid about this and would love the peace of mind the interior motion sensor offers given that it will sound the alarm and immobilize the vehicle.
I'm wondering if anyone with a newer model vehicle has done this same retrofit and can provide any pictures or insight. After 1,000 different Google searches around Audi/VW OEM Interior Motion Sensor Retrofit, VCDS/VagCom, Interior Sensor Alarm Install I've stumbled on a few threads where people have successfully completed this on newer models and said it was quite easy but didn't elaborate with a how-to or instructions.
I've purchased the OEM motion sensor (https://parts.audiusa.com/p/Audi__Q7...5Q0951177.html) and wiring harness which tucks away nicely in the sunroof module. The motion sensor has only three wires (ground, constant 12v, and LIN Bus) that need to be connected before the feature can be enabled in VCDS/VagCom. My understanding is that if your car has a sunroof and rain/light sensor then all the wiring can be done in the roof above the sunroof module just by tapping into open pins on existing connectors.
I also have the motion sensor wiring diagram from the service manual that is visually helpful but doesn't (to me) show where these wires can be connected above the sunroof module.
If anyone can help out with more specific instructions or pictures I would greatly appreciate it. In theory, this is a pretty easy retrofit that I think a lot of people would take advantage of given the low cost.
Thank you!
