So the upper radiator hose busted earlier today, was able to get a replacement at AutoZone. When it comes to coolant I ran out of Audi/VW coolant and I used a pink Preston (European car formula) to get me going . Any issues with it ? Has anyone used it? Should I be worried about it ?

Should be fine as long as it's the pink stuff and the correct G12 rating or whatever rating these cars use.

It's what I use. G12, pink, raspberry flavor. Should be good to go!

I would not be using that. That shit never works or is compatible as they state. In a pinch if you need to get home sure. But flush the system and put the correct coolant in it. Never ever trust prestone.

How about Zerex G40? Same OE color, same Si-OAT chemistry. It's what I have in my...........3.0.

I guess a cooling system flush after a rebuild probably isn't a bad idea anyway. I'll swing by Audi and pick some up.

I just use a cheap generic pink G12+. No problems with it. VW coolant is not some magic liquid, you’ll be fine, just don’t mix it with other stuff such as G11.

If that's the case put some toyota pink coolant in your vehicle and then try to tell me it doesn't eat the aluminum based on its chemical properties. Coolant is formulated for a reason.

Well the generic one I’m using is compliant so no worries there. I always check if it is up to spec.

Huh? Toyota coolant eats Aluminum? Toyotas engines have plenty of Aluminum exposed to the coolant, but I hadn't heard that Toyota engines are decomposing from within due to their coolant.
