    S5 reliability

I’m new to the Audi family. I’ve heard the reliability of Audis has gotten much better but I was curious about the reliability of a B9/B9.5 S5. I’m prepared to spend a few thousand a year on maintenance and change oil every 5K miles but how many miles I should expect to encounter some more involved repairs?

I have had my used 2018 S5 since Nov 2021 and so far it's just been in for regular services and any listed recalls. Since my warranty expired last summer I have now started doing some of the maintenance myself...oil changes, Tire rotations, etc.

Glad to hear it's been reliable! How many miles are you at?

I don't drive a lot working from home now. I bought it with like 25,546 and a little over 31,000. First diy oil change will be in May using the Mityvack 7201. It's been a solid car for me so far!

I've owned 2 Audi's A6 and S5. Two BMW's 330 and 530, and one Mercedes E350. The Mercedes was the most reliable during the 9 years of ownership. The BMW's the least reliable with multiple issues during the years of ownership and the Audi's were in between. All were fairly reliable mechanically, but otherwise, especially the BMW's, they damn near fell apart before the 100,000-mile mark. Bottom line IMO the German cars drive great, but if you are buying for reliability get a Toyota or Honda.
