Been looking into this to do my own. The Audi service manual (not easy to post the graphic, sorry) calls out a couple of tools:
- T10001/3 - a passthrough socket for the outer nut. Unfortunately out-of-stock on the SnapOn manufacturer tool store:
https://audi.snapon.com/SpecialTools...temId=17440108
- 1332/7 - torque wrench adapter for the socket
- T40255 - 9 mm holder for the shaft, has wrench flats on the top. Available on the SnapOn manufacturer store:
https://vw.snapon.com/SpecialToolsDe...temid=36840108
The procedure says to remove the protective boot and housing connector from the wire so you can pass it through the socket.
What size is the outer nut? FCP Euro has strut nut sockets in a couple of different sizes, here's a 19mm:
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/19m...t-cta-3039x04; they have other sizes from 16-24mm.
