Fuel pressure regulator valve vs. Fuel injector pressure regulator?

    Hey all,
I don't have a ton of experience working on these cars or cars in general (but I did manage to swap the turbo on this car, so, even a donkey can learn new things.) But thanks in advance for everyone's patience with what's likely a 2nd grader level question.

From what I'm experiencing with my car- acceleration just chokes off or cuts out when, say, trying to accelerate to pass at highway speed, etc., usually around 3200rpm and it has to kick down to 5th from 6th and this is just one example- it seems the fuel pressure regulator valve is faulty. (I also get the P2293 code... (DTC) for "Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance".) Fuel filter with internal pressure regulator has already been changed out.

I'm likely going to swap the fuel pressure sensor also, as it's kind of right there, but my question is this- when I search for a fuel pressure regulator for parts two very different results show up. One of them I can find inside the car and there are some excellent DIYs for swapping it. That's this part-

But I also get this result for the same car and I can't locate it anywhere. Am I correct in thinking it's just an error or are they in fact two different parts and I just can't find this one or any DIYs on swapping it for my PARTICULAR vehicle?

I appreciate everyone's patience with this super n00b question.

    T'anks,

You did not specify your car details, so I assume you have a B7 A4 since you are posting in this forum. The first link is for a B7 A4 and is a fuel rail pressure relief valve. It is also not likely the cause of your problem. The valve is dumb valve set to crack at 125 or 130 bar. I have not really seen people having that relief valve fail and crack at something less than specified.

The second link is not for a B7 A4, it looks like for a B6 A4.

Really need some logs of low side and high side fuel parameters, both requested and actual and see what is really going on to be able to better diagnose.

It could be your low side fuel pump, it could be you have holed your cam follower and your cam lobe is done for. Actually, that is a place to start. Have you checked your cam follower and HPFP?

Like ONW said, first thing id check is cam follower, if it hasn't been checked. Fuel issue on these are hard, even when able to log. Without logs, its parts darts. The first one is a PRV(pressure relief valve), like a safety measure. Your actual "pressure regulator" for the high side, is on top of the hpfp, which can't be bought seperate. If its bad, need a new hpfp(recommend Hitachi or genuine).
Check/change cam follower first. If ok, and still an issue, do some fuel logs. Blocks/groups 230 and 231 with vcds.
