    Lowering links vs. computer lowering

    Hi
Considering lowering my 2018 SQ5 using lowering links. I have the air suspension. Called my local shop and they advised that they can actually lower the SQ5 using the computer and not needing the lower links.

Has anyone out there done this? I would think the ride may be rough if the air suspension is overridden using the computer.

    Thank you

I would side with the computer adjustment. You can dial in exactly how you would like the ride height to be.

Most of your aftermarket links are fixed. So one lower height, and done.

Don't the lowering links just lower the height on all the ADS modes? It doesn't force you into a single height iirc. And ~$200 vs. $1350.

The lowering links would be $100 for parts plus labor/dial in. Computer override would be $200 all in

The cost is sub what in the ball park but trying to figure out the best way to go. If the computer lowering is available, then wondering why more SQ5 owners haven’t gone this route?

Computer lowering doesn't lower enough. For me at least.

If I were going to bother spending the money for air suspension I’d go with a CETE module to get the widest range of adjustability.

Would someone mind explaining what has to be done to the computerand what it allows you to do after. Thank you for any replies.

For me it was $200 vs. $1349. I set it on Dynamic 99.969% of the time. Height is perfect and no need for all mode adjustability. Offroad mode is still high enough to clear most obstacles.

Interesting, didn’t know the suspension could be programmed down once via computer instead of buying the CETE. It seems that method (above this post) lowers the suspension to a “new” factory point that the car thinks is default, then the drive modes adjust as normal from there? That’s pretty badass for the price.

I had mine done, the max they could do was -20mm without errors. They said it varies by car, not just year. I like the height (still don't hit parking curbs) and 034's track testing said their optimal height for performance driving was -15mm, so I don't see a reason to change. As you lower air suspension, you effectively reduce the spring rate, so there's a tipping point between ride height and suspension stiffness.
