    Hey all!

Someone totaled my RS3, I was able to snag a very cheap 2018 RS3 - Just introducing myself. Any known issues I should get ahead of?

    Thanks!

Sucks about the RS3 but congrats on the RS5! How are you finding the difference between the two?

I've only just purchased it at auction, so it will be another 6 days before it's in my driveway ready to roll. I've got another 6-8 grand set aside for mods and minor adjustments. I usually factor in a catch can, any preventative maintenance I can do or parts that fail prematurely that I can replace now.

    Congrats indeed.

Does your new car have DRC? If so, reach out to the Nemesis guys yesterday and talk to them about ABT HAS. You can also do it if you don't have DRC but DRC cars especially, drive better with this specific kit. Also, depending on the stereo and sub, check the phase of the woofer. I don't know about the coups, but the Sportback subs are all wired out of phase from the factory and it's very apparent.

A good handful of us have also worked with the Nemesis guys on BC Forged wheels, if you're inclined. Unmatched expertise in terms of customizing/personalizing fitment, price and service. I went KL14 but unlike others, didn't want to be completely flush.

    VVG -

    BC Forged KL14 - 20x10 ET25 - 5x112 66.6 - Gloss Black

I'm on 285/30R20 Michelin PS4S. I was considering AS4 because they run slightly wider, and I really wanted a square look but ended up back deciding the true performance tire was the right move on the RS.

Because I was looking to have them tucked slightly, this fitment is perfect. I wouldn't change a thing. Also, no trimming or rubbing.

Well my rocker arms (also 2018 RS 5) just went out at 51k miles. Hope you have better luck with yours. I did run the 034 Stage I tune (93) for about 3000 miles (from 45k to 48k) before flashing it back to stock though.

What did this repair set you back? Just curious nice also heard of the oil cylinder 5 leak that’s common, and a timing belt/chain issue around 45-55k to look out for?

I have an extended warranty. Shop just notified me of a collapsed tensioner as well.

Looks like the timing chain also needs to be replaced--car is definitely fun to drive, but mine in particular has been a nightmare to own.

Bought new November 2018 -- 50 miles on the odometer.
Oil Leak the day after I bought the car -- it was in and out of the shop for the first 3 and half months of ownership. Had to hire an attorney and opted for a cash settlement.

Oil Leak December 2021 <-- different part of the engine, in the shop for about 2 weeks.

Low coolant warning, complained of ticking noise December 2022 -- Dealer determined it just needed to be topped off but I think they just didn't care to hunt down the leak. The ticking noise is "just the fuel injectors" according to one of their technicians. In my head I'm thinking, "mfer I've been driving this car for 4 fuckin years, it's NEVER made this kind of noise."

February 2023 - current -- Ticking noise is getting worse --> rocker arms, collapsed tensioner, timing chain -- My car never went into limp mode or anything, but low and behold, bunch of rocker arm bearings found in the oil pan. They just keep finding more and more shit wrong as the days progress. I'll bet my left nut that the water pump or intercooler is leaking as well.

Don't even get me started on how many times I took it in to get interior rattles sorted out, and they're still not fixed so I just kind of gave up on them. I'm pretty much giving up on Audi as a brand. And yes, I did oil changes every 5k yada yada yada. The car was maintained beyond OEM recommendations. But good maintenance can't overcome shit engineering. I had a 2013 A4 with it's fair share of problems too.

Sincerely wish all of you with 2018s better luck than I've had, but my shop has already had to do several 2018 S4/S5 with the same problem, similar mileage.
