Unhappy Best place to buy a 2017-2020 RS3?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Just sold my FB S3.
Currently in the market to buy an 8V RS3 with <15k miles, however, it seems like anything that fits my criteria is overpriced by a dealer, is a private sale with too many miles, and or is on the east coast. (I'm on the west coast)

Where is the best place to search for an RS3, <15k miles, and under 55k? Would prefer 45-50k. (Private sale preferred)
I've been on FB, CarGurus, Carvana, CarMax, carfax, etc, but cannot seem to find anything solid.
I'm thinking of texting my friend who is a dealer to see if he can get something at an auction and sell it to me at cost... Is it much cheaper to do it this way?

    Thanks!

You're probably not finding anything because you're around $5-7k low on values.

KBB says my 2020 with just under 15k is about $54-60k private party. The most recent RS3 on carsandbids sold for $52k, which was a 2020 with 40k miles. Before that it was a 2019 with 4k for $57k, but that was over 8 months ago.

Also I'm sure you're aware but it's kind of just a bad time to buy or sell a car. The used market is flooded, and dealers are sitting on cars that they bought thinking they could flip them for a lot more. My only suggestion would be to either wait it out, or just go for one across the country. I've done this quite a few times and if you can find the right car and make it a fun roadtrip, it's a win-win...

Only thing you're gonna find under $50k is a 2017-2018 with 50k+ miles and a bunch of CTS parts.

Not necessarily true for low mileage RS3s in good condition, they seem to be holding their value extremely well - as in, almost new prices

    Best place to buy a 2017-2020 RS3?

If you remove the private sale and low miles restrictions you have quite a few options.

    Here’s 2 examples:

    $50k
    33k miles
    2019
    East coast

    $50k
    44k miles
    2018
    East coast:

This is pretty spot on. Anything with under 30k miles is going to be $50k+ for the most part but there are two listed on autotrader right now right at the $50k mark with 21k and 27k miles.

get a weapon and go up to the seller and threaten them, cause you gonna have to steal the car to pay those prices.

On Cargurus there are two available that match what you are looking for, only problems are one is Wisconsin and the other is Florida. Also, and this is probably the biggest issue, both are most likely salvage titles. Granted I know a guy who bought a salvage title Charger Scat Pack and has been issue free for 50k miles. Your gonna have to give a little (whether it be price, location, mileage, or etc...) if you really are serious about buying a RS3.

Consider importing one from Canada. These used prices quoted are more than I paid brand new taking into consideration the current exchange rate.

I paid 45k in April 2022 for a 1 owner with 72k miles. No regrets and I’ve already put 10k Stage 2 miles on it. At the time it was the 2nd lowest price in the country.
