MMI SW update HN+_US_AU3G_K0942_6 troubles

Hoping someone can help me out..

I have a C7 A6 currently equipped with mmi sw “HN+R_US_AU_P0733” and mu 0810. I’m trying to update to the current sw version stated above in topic via a brand new 32G SanDisk SD card formatted to Fat32. I unzipped the file and everything looks good so I go to install the sw onto the mmi but every time I press update it returns with “medium currently unavailable”. I’ve tried both sd slots along with re-installing sw to Sd card numerous times but still no luck. Any pointers or info would be much appreciated.

What’s the difference between the HN+R_US_AU_K0942_3, and HN+_US_AU_K0942_6?

OK, so you know how to start the Red Engineering Menu (REM), which reports the current "train" and MU software version.
This generation of MMI system has essentially two variations: MMI 3G (HNav), and MMI 3G+ (HN+). The B8 (A4, A5, Q5, Q7) platform MMI 3G+ uses HN+_US_AU_K0942_6 software, while the C7 platform (A6, A7, A8?) uses HN+R_US_AU_K0942_3. Thus, you need to prepare an SD card with HN+R_US_AU_K0942_3 for your C7 A6. I have more info on this over here: https://www.vwvortex.com/threads/aud...tware.9471271/

Thanks for the reply I really appreciate it. So I downloaded the K0942_3 and I ended up with the same results. It keeps telling me that “the medium is currently unavailable” after trying to read the release info.. I don’t know if at this point if my mmi is just refusing to read the sd or what. I checked dtcs in my GEM and there were a bunch in “untested dtcs” but none in “qualified dtcs” not really sure what the difference is..

Generally, "the medium is currently unavailable" in the REM suggests that your SD card is either not FAT32 or you didn't extract the archive to the SD card properly.

The REM Software Update process expects to find plain-text file metainfo2.txt in the root/top directory of the update media (SD card, USB flash drive, DVD, etc.). For the HN+R MMI software update, you should have two files (finalScript, metainfo2.txt) and 45 directories in the root/top directory of your FAT32 SD card.
