Hi everyone. I'm joining the club here as an owner of a, new to me, B9 RS5 in Misano Red. I purchased it in New York and drove it back 1,800-ish miles to Colorado enjoying every minute of it.

I'll be documenting throughout my ownership of it some subtle modifications I'll be making to it. I won't be cracking the engine open like I did on my B7 A4. If you want to check all of that out you can do so here:

    https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...EFR-7163-Build

To start out I've done some tint all around and changed the badging to black as well.

I've got some other goodies on the way. Mainly some suspension things to start and an 034 tune. I'll update those add-ons as they come in. For now though, here she is:

First of a few bolt on mods per se.

New to me ORT HPFP along with ethanol content sensor and the Fuel-It pigtail.

Got the 034 Motorsports tune to accompany the mods.

And then last for now, I changed the cone filter. The old one was covered in leaves and all sorts of other debris. I didn't snap a pic of it but I'm glad I changed it out.

Suspension mods coming next. Just waiting on some parts to arrive.

    Edgar

Received some dry carbon shifter paddles. They are the stick on kind. I think they look good. A little bigger than I thought they would be but they don't overpower the view in the car. Very happy with them.

    A few things done today.

    Added an 034 intake.

Some carbon fiber engine cover pieces.

A Kicker Key amp with BasserBox and Kicker Comp sub.

Also tore my center console and MMI controls apart to clean the buttons and knob up. The previous owner spilled something that was causing my buttons to stick rendering a few of them basically useless. My guess is tomato soup.

Added a few more bits and bobs.

A few under the hood such as the 034 cross bars and a little more carbon fiber.

    Added the trans insert.

Added 15mm spacers all around and Raceline 80mm stud conversion.

I have springs and some other suspension components to install but I'll need to wait until i have a little more time to do those.

Installed the rear sway bar and the Maxton front lip. Still have loads of parts to install but too lazy (and cold) to get it all done quickly.

No pics of the sway bar install as i was too mad and frustrated to take pics installing it.

It wasn't very difficult. I used a rivet gun that i bought on Amazon and used M6 rivets and screws to hold it on. Mocked it up with blue painters tape and it is on there very first. I would say work the two outer edges first and then complete the middle last.

I bought the 034 resonator delete kit a few weeks ago and finally got a chance to install them today. I did it on jack stands which was a real pain just because of how hard it is to cut the exhaust with such little space on your back but it ended well. Ended up replacing the stock bolts from the sleeves with some carriage bolts from Lowes since the old ones were so rusted.

Sound is good. It is slightly deeper at idle and the downshifts are more noticeable. Haven't slammed on the pedal yet so no feedback on that but it is a really good balance of still being comfortably quiet but raising the performance sound as well.

Any updates on the resonator delete and how it sounds across different driving situations like idle, wot, cruising, etc?

    Hi,

I think it sounds pretty great. I've taken an additional step which is removing the fuse for the exhaust flaps so they are always open. With that small change the cold starts sound great and when the car settles down its just slightly louder than stock but not obnoxious. In regular D mode it's as quiet as stock but when you put it in S (sport) mode it definitely sounds deeper. I like to put it in S and then flip it over to manual to really hear the exhaust and the downshifts which are still fairly quiet but noticable from stock.

When you get on it (WOT) there is definitely a great tone that comes from the exhaust which i enjoy. Again, it is not comparable to a full exhaust which would be much louder in my opinion but maybe not as satisfying (subjective).

I think it's just right for me. Its not raspy like some full exhausts I've heard. But, it's also not as loud as a full exhaust. I'll try to capture a few clips and put them on YouTube this weekend if i can. Some people will still thinks it's too quiet but I'm getting older and don't enjoy loud drowns anymore or really loud exhausts so this is a good compromise.

Long time no update. My steering wheel is finished being made and will get shipped to me this week. I should have it hand by next week, fingers crossed. Really excited.

New addition today to the trunk area.

Just a WeatherTech trunk liner but the cool part is that I went to WeatherTech to pick it up. They have quite a shop here in Colorado. Very impressive.

As you can see they like the color white.

Also picked up an anti-stress mat for my garage in our new house later this year.

I'll have to figure out a better way to host these images. The app really makes these look funky or they just disappear.

Anyways, got my new steering wheel in and installed. I absolutely love it. I do have an airbag light though so I may need to go to the dealership to see if they can reset it. I think it came on because I removed the airbag with the battery still connected.

    On to the pictures.

For those wondering that run into an air bag light on these cars after an aftermarket steering wheel install. Clearing the faults with VCDS works perfectly. I tried using a generic OBD2 scanner that I have because I was being lazy and that didn't work however, when I pulled the cable and laptop out it worked great.

Drove the car from Colorado to South Carolina and got great gas mileage on the 93 tune. When I got to SC I swapped back to the E85 tune and the car starting misfiring and giving me a weird code on a VCDS scan. P0148. Although it was fuel related I thought that maybe my spark plugs were fouled so I changed them with some Brisk plugs. Gapped to about .028 and threw them in. I then reflashed the E85 tune just in case and things seem to be running much better.

I think it was a bad flash since I had spotty wifi when I flashed back to E85. Lesson learned there.

Looks like some good work! You have several of the same mods as me. Do you have any issues with clipping on the Kicker Amp? I have some at really high volumes.... I'm hoping it's not being caused by my amp being inverted and mounting upside down.

No problems with any clipping from the amp. Could be a faulty amp. I've mounted amps inverted in other cars with no problems. They don't care which way they're facing.

Could also be a heat issue depending on the location. What sub are you running? Are you running it/have it wired for the right impedance?

Does it start clipping immediately or after playing for awhile? Mine isn’t inverted but does get a bit warm. The only time I’ve really had clipping issues (not the Kicker) in the past is when the amp needs a bit more fine-tuning. Gain setting doesn’t match (or close to it) the input signal.

Does sound like it’s getting too hot or possibly on its way out. Any way to move it?

I'll have to grab some later. It's holding up great though. I've scraped it a few times because of the angle of a driveway or road and it's been taking it just fine.

Sorry it took so long to get you these pics. I put rivets underneath and used the stock bolts that came with the splitter. It holds up great. I have no concern about it coming loose.

Fresh oil change today. Just some Liqui Moly 0w30. One of the easiest oil changes I've ever done on an Audi. My B7 was such a pain because of where the oil filter is located.

Bought this kit from FCP Euro. Great bang for your buck.

Yea. I ordered a rear diffuser piece that I won't receive until September. Hopefully it ships earlier than that.

Anyways, got my new steering wheel in and installed. I absolutely love it. I do have an airbag light though so I may need to go to the dealership to see if they can reset it. I think it came on because I removed the airbag with the battery still connected.

    On to the pictures.

Finally got my new wheels in and on. Also got the paint corrected and System X ceramic coating. Wheels are Rohana RFX17s, 20x10s wrapped in 285/30/20 Continental DWS Sport Plus'.

Still need to drop it on the 034 springs I have but the pinch bolt has prevented me from doing that already. I'll give it a shot again this coming weekend. For now, enjoy the wheels at stock height I will.

Not really how airbags work but there is always a risk of a voltage spike I guess to cause weird things to happen.

Wow. They're really behind now then.

I wish they would make side skirts for the SB. I'm sad they don't and neither does anyone else. I should be clear that I don't want carbon fiber ones.

    Static discharge can trigger airbags!

On Sunday I successfully put on my 034 lowering springs. I think it took me about 10 hours total. It was quite a pain, I would have thought Audi would have done away with the pinch bolt but it seems to be some sort of cruel joke they have in keeping it in there.

I also put on the sway the bar end links I ordered from ECS tuning.

I still have a few other things I plan on doing but I'll get around to those eventually.
