Buying a used 2021 RS6 Avant what should I look for

Hi,

Tomorrow I will go to an Audi dealer to check an used 2021 RS6 Avant with just over 40'000km.

From your experience any particular items I should specifically check.

Car has still 2 years warranty from the original registration ( January 2021)

Ask about the 48V generator and if 1) it has ever been replaced and 2) if not, if they can perform the TSB on it and do the software update, if needed.

Check on recall status...there are a few recalls floating around right now. Some don't have a fix available, yet.

If there are any open recalls it can’t be CPO.

Salesman was fair and told me it can not be pro because of the tsb for the fuel pump that Audi does not have a solution.

It has high mileage at 40000km for the 18 months the car was used.

Other than that it’s in good shape.

Regardless don't buy this thing unless you get an extended warranty... they day before it runs out, sell it

4 years 80’000km warranty.

What is the reason to sell it the day the warranty ends… anything wrong with those RS. I red the thread on alternator failure and electric gremlins.

With any German luxury performance vehicle, when something goes wrong it is VERY expensive to repair. Often times since these cars are limited in numbers it doesn’t make sense for aftermarket companies to make replacement parts so you are stuck paying OEM prices.

I've owned 8 Audi's over 12 years and my '21 RS7 has been the most unreliable by far, take a look at my profile posts. EVAP pump, alternator, air intake boot, defective rear door locks, screen going blank, several recalls that haven't been issued yet... It's been in the shop 69 days out of 18 months, its laughable. Given the alternator replacement cost $6,000+ and they haven't really figured out why its been failing, as the part is the same and failures include both 21 + 22's, these things are likely to fail in the future too and out of warranty. Who knows what else is in store for these things as they age.
