Mmi virtual cockpit cluster settings not saving?

Is anyone else having issues saving their layout for rs1 mode? I change it and it takes but then restart car and it goes back to the stock setup when you hit rs1 again. Pretty annoying. So many other glitches I hate with the mmi can’t wait till a new update comes. Hate the CarPlay going black and having to click in and out to get it back.

Edit*: I finally figured it out it makes no sense but there’s a “automatic RS layout” slider that needs to be turned off in order to get it to stay in the setting you configured. Makes no sense to me that it would even have that option as you’d literally have to change the layout every time you run the car if that button were switched onto auto. Oh well, German engineers over complicating things as usual but hey that’s why I love Audi . This guy helped out in his YouTube video if anyone was curious about what I was talking about https://youtu.be/dpBNpcgOPYI right at 7minute mark.

you have to set it as the default not just close the car with the layout you want

I also dont have any carplay issues.

Thanks I’ll have to look into that I swear I did that but maybe I overlooked that. Lucky you’re not having CarPlay issues, I have had CarPlay issues almost every time I get in maybe it’s an iPhone compatibility issue. I heard a new updates coming this year hope it happens soon. Cars brand new and it sucks they didn’t fix those quirks by now I know it’s software and likely an easy fix after an update.

I believe the purpose of the "automatic RS layout" slider is to control what appears in the Heads Up Display. When in RS mode, default behavior is for the native navigation information to no longer appear in the H.U.D. Changing the slider position stops the RS layout showing up in the H.U.D. and the navigation information to appear. What I've been looking for is how to change the appearance of the RS information in the H.U.D. on the fly so that when in "normal" driving situations where I'm not using navigation the RS information shows in the H.U.D. Then, when I am using the navigation system, the H.U.D. will display turn by turn information.

Another way of describing what I'm after is this: Is there a way to manually toggle RS information in the H.U.D. when "automatic RS layout" is switched off. I like the RS H.U.D. layout in general, but want the H.U.D. to display navigation information when navigating somewhere.

Hope that makes sense. And, no, I haven't read the entire user manual yet. I have read about the basic operation of the H.U.D. and not seen it there.

    Make sense? Clear as mud?

Oh, and I wish there were a way to set the car to always start in RS1. I'm lazy that way. pushing a button every time I get in the car is annoying. The "tip" box on Page 114 describes this behavior:
"When the ignition is being switched on, individualized systems, such as the drive system, will be reset to a balanced setting. Select the current mode again to attain its full configuration"
