is it common for the rear wiper to sort working on these cars? I do not use mine often but just noticed it has stopped working recently no matter what settings I try. Not sure where to look first but hoping its the the wiper switch lol. the still pump works

I would check all the fuses. I believe the rear wipe is on its own.

It's a long shot ... but maybe there's a break in the wiring harness to the hatch? I've seen this on other brands.

I’m gonna check the wiring there, gonna check if power is getting to the motor. I will check the fuses and I have read a tsb that there is a split ce in the wire under the trim below the drivers door. Not sure why that is there but apparently it can get corrosion.

did not have much time to fiddle today but its not the fuse, at least as long as I checked the right fuse. number 14 in the drivers side of the dash.

connected VCDS, the rear wiper shows up as inactive
when I push the switch forward it says active
when I push the sprayer on:
    sprayer says active
    wiper says inactive

Im assuming this is correct operation

    following this TSB
    https://testing-public.carmd.com/Tsb...107425/A921511

with wiper switch pushed forward to activate rear wiper I read the following values

    I get 11.32 volts between pins 1 and 4
    I get 6.5 volts between pins 4 and 3
    I get 11.32 volts between pins 4 and 2

voltage difference was more than 0.5 volts between pins 4/3 and 4/2

according to TSB I may have a broken wire?

then I noticed that the wiper had wiped he glass, it started working momentarily. then stopped again

I then jumped pins 1 and 2 and the motor works.

so I narrowed out the motor being bad and believe the switch also to be ok.

for fact that the wiper worked for a moment I thought the break in the wire must be in the rear hatch opening. I pulled the trim and undid the harness black sticky cloth and saw no broken wires, I went as far as I could see into the roof following the harness, nothing broken. I did not proceed into the wiring going down the side of the hatch, cannot imagine wire breaking down there, it all stays pretty still.

I did not check the harness as the TSB states to do in the driver door opening, guess that will be my next inspection.

I just don't get why it started working for a minute

Check the wireloom to the rear hatch, specifically in the area where it goes from the body to the door and flexes every time the hatch opens and closes.

I checked the harness all the way to the pump and as far as I could rear into the headliner
