No Signal/DRL After Replacing Headlight Control Module

    Hello All,

I have a 2019 S4 with LED headlights (non-matrix). A couple weeks ago, after washing the car I got an error message saying the front left turn signal was faulty. Also, the headlight itself had a good amount of condensation in it. I pulled the headlights out to try and determine the issue. LEDs looked good so I pulled the control module and I could see some obvious signs of water damage. Just to verify this was the issue I swapped the module from the other headlight and the issue was now happening on the other side; signal and DRL working again on the original one. I went ahead and ordered a used module on eBay, I actually got a pair, just in case, swapped out the known bad module, cleared the error code and retried; same issue. Does the new control module need to be flashed or coded in some way?

Thanks I’m advance for any help on this. I did try a search first to be sure there wasn’t already a discussion on this but I didn’t see anything, but please forgive me if I missed it.

Needs to be adapted to your car, I went through a similar situation. Had mine done at the dealer. They updated my MMI and fixed my passenger seat detection issue.

Thanks! Figured it must be something along those lines.

Anyone know if this can be done using VagCom or OBDeleven?

Component Protection updating is a dealer operation - guess it's being done this way to reduce black/grey market impact from stolen parts.

It may require VAS interface for calibrating such components to headlights. I know I'll be utilizing this tool for my upcoming Matrix LED headlight install.
