Question Missed Connection: Owner of this 2015 Audi RS5 for sale at Dealership in Florida

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello,

I'm searching for the previous owner of this Misano Red Pearl 2015 Audi RS5 for sale at the Port Richey Subaru dealership:

    https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invent...35479/FEATURED

    https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/a...-dfc5eb95f4ca/

I see you had a wonderful car here with lots of extra goodies. The dealership seems to know very little about what all was done to the car, and I figured it was worth a shot asking if you were on here. I can visually see a few of the modifications (Eventuri intakes, aftermarket head unit (RSNav?), carbon splitter / diffuser / skirts, aftermarket wheels, lowering springs / coilovers?) but I'd rather not play the guessing game. If you are on here, please reach out, as I'd love to talk about your old car.

    Thanks!

looks like 3 previous owners. I see upgraded intakes most likely Armaspeed, definitely coilovers as the car is riding really low (that from spoiler is not long for this world at that low ride height). That RSNAV display is huge!!! Priced sees very reasonable taking into account the mileage and the upgrades

2015 RS5: Mythos Black, Tech Package , Dynamic steering, Black Optics, Folding side mirror upgrade, internal LED lights, Eventuri Intake, Akrapovič exhaust, KW DDC ECU, lots of CF

I love how you call it a "Missed Connection" ad - reminds me of Craigslist in the 90's and early 2000s when you saw a cute girl, made eye contact but couldnt pull the trigger for whatever reason and then immediately went to CraigsList Missed Connection ads in hopes of reconnecting. Believe it or not, one random time around 2008, I actually found a MC ad on there for ME :) Wound up reconnecting but didnt work out

I agree w/ 'namvar' that the Carbon Intake appears to be the Armaspeed, and yes, the RSNav is DEFINITELY Ridiculous! Regarding the Front Splitter / Rear Side Splitters / Side Skirts, they're definitely Maxton Design and they appear to be Gloss Black. Though Maxton does offer a 'Carbon Look' finish, they're definitely NOT Carbon Fiber! The Wheels are definitely Rotiform BLQ's and are likely 20" x 10" ET35's. Here's a pic of my S5 w/ 20x10 Rotiform BLQ's for comparison:

I saw that car yesterday PM, on Car Gurus as it came up on my saved RS5 search. Looking at the other mods, I'm wondering what Exhaust...

Thanks for the help! I was only familiar with the Eventuri intakes and carbon fiber underbody work, as there were some examples of each for sale on the RS5 classified not along ago. Didn't realize there were multiple options for such mods given the relative small size of the RS5 community, so thanks!

Any opinions on the Armaspeed intakes? I know the consensus on the Eventuri's is that they are expensive, look good, may or may not add sound (depending on exhaust), and don't add that much power, so I assume Armaspeed is the same.

The dealer said there was a "suspension kit" installed (very vague) so I assumed coilovers. Given that, I'm not sure I'd keep that front piece on, especially if it isn't carbon fiber.

Exhaust is still the wild card here, as the dealer didn't mention it but I figure anyone who did these mods probably did exhaust too.

Unfortunately the dealer didn't seem to get a mod list, plus considering the car has had three previous owners, I've got no idea who put these mods on in the first place. I agree that pricing seems fairly reasonable given age / mileage / mods though, so that's what got me initially excited. I should be down in that area in ~ 1 month, we will see if it's still on the market then. Cheers.

Should you purchase that RS5, a couple of things to consider re: the value of the Front Splitter:

    - As low as that car is, I'd keep it as a sacrificial element to protect the Lower Lip of the Bumper. It'll surely bottom out at least occasionally, and likely more often if you're not REALLY careful.
    - The Splitter mounts with Qty. 13 - M6 Flanged Button Head Cap Screws. Assuming it's mounted 'correctly', there's THIRTEEN holes drilled in the Front Bumper right now anyway, so why not leave it on there. If it gets damaged from bottoming out all over town, you can get another one (@ approx. $280), and use the old one as a template to drill 13 identically located holes in the new one.

FYI - I've got the same Front Splitter on my S5, and can tell you it's got a 3D profile to mate precisely to the RS5 Lower Lip/Bumper. As such, if/when it needs to be replaced, you can lay the old one over the new one and they'll nest together, providing a perfect drilling template. As a result, the replacement will fit EXACTLY as the old one did, so no headaches whatsoever! Then you'll just need to be more careful when driving around so as not to bottom out everywhere. Of course, having 'destroyed' the first one, you'll already know where it's gonna bottom out anyway!

    - The Splitter mounts with Qty. 14 - M6 Flanged Button Head Cap Screws. Assuming it's mounted correctly, there's FOURTEEN holes drilled in the Front Bumper right now anyway, so why not leave it on there. If it gets damaged from bottoming out all over town, you can get another one (@ approx. $280), and use the old one as a template to drill 14 identically located holes in the new one.

That's a great idea actually. I've been driving a lowered G37 for years now, so do unfortunately know the perils of a lowered car. My front bumper is pretty scuffed (luckily most are from the earlier years, I know what its limits are now). I didn't realize the mounting of the lip required such incursions to be made into the front bumper, so at that point yes, I'd be inclined to keep it there anyways.

Do you know of any actual carbon fiber alternatives that also use that same mounting? I figure if I can get the limits of scrape / no scrape dialed in down the line, I may swap to actual CF.

The mounting of the Front Splitter is 'free form' in that there are no defined locations for the mounting screws. Done right, and I'm quite ANAL in that regard, it's a painstaking process to determine precise locations for all the mounting holes, especially if you want the mounting to be precisely symmetrical on both sides! Here's a pic I took looking up from the bottom after I had mounted the Front Splitter on my S5, which reveals how it's mounted, and the 3d profile of the Splitter:

Also note that there's actually THIRTEEN mounting screws used in my application, not 14 as I had originally indicated. Maxton Design supplies 14 screws with the Splitter, but you have to use an odd number if you expect it to be symmetrical on both sides! I've edited my original post for accuracy...

Regarding a Carbon Fiber Front Splitter, again, I see the Splitter as a sacrificial element and as low as that car is, it's definitely gonna bottom at least occasionally. Carbon Fiber I'd expect, is more brittle and MUCH less forgiving in that circumstance/application as well. Regardless, the mounting for a Carbon Fiber Splitter would also be 'free form', and almost certainly not line up with the mounting of an existing Maxton Design Splitter, thus requiring another set of mounting holes to be drilled in the Lower Lip/Front Bumper. All that considered, and a replacement cost of $700 - $850 for Carbon Fiber, I definitely wouldn't go that route!
